Jack Le Brocq To Run Supercars Chevy Camaro With ‘Days Of Thunder’ Inspired Livery

Days of Thunder is a 1990 film that follows the trials and tribulations of hotshot Cole Trickle on the NASCAR Cup Series circuit. Trickle, played by Tom Cruise, wheels an obnoxiously bright Chevy Lumina race car that’s impossible to mistake, and now, that bright yellow-and-green paint scheme will return to the track courtesy of Jack Le Brocq, driver of the No. 9 Australian Supercars Chevy Camaro ZL1.

Le Brocq’s Camaro isn’t exactly the same as Trickle’s Lumina, but it’s easy to see where the classic Chevy race car played muse. According to a report from Supercars.com, Le Brocq picked up support from sponsor Eleven Workwear, which pairs nicely with the florescent green, yellow, and orange stripes on a base of black paint. The flashy livery closely resembles Trickle’s Mello Yello sponsored car in the film, although his City Chevrolet colors are also similar.

The paint scheme was unveiled on October 24th, 2024, the day before on-track action kicks off at Gold Coast. The forthcoming round, which is scheduled for October 25th through 27th, mark the second-to-last outing in the Australian Supercars Championship as the season, and the title fight, winds down.

Le Brocq is currently 11th in the overall points standings, putting him in position to crack the top 10. He has 1444 points racked up so far this season, bolstered by a top-10 finish in the 2024 Bathurst 1000. He ran fourth for much of the race, but a poorly timed safety car period snuffed out his hopes of a top-five result. However, he could carry his momentum to Gold Coast this weekend, hopefully cutting his points deficit ahead of the final round at Adelaide.

No. 46 Chevy Lumina from ‘Days of Thunder’

Currently, a pair of Supercars Chevy Camaro coupes hold down first and second in the points standings. Will Brown’s No. 87 Camaro sits in sole possession of first, while his teammate Broc Feeney tails him in the No. 88 Camaro.
