Bringing plentiful updates and changes to the Tri-Shield brand’s three-row crossover with the launch of the third generation, the 2025 Buick Enclave offers fresh styling, bigger exterior dimensions, an overhauled cockpit headlined by a 30-inch infotainment display, ample tech features, and more. Now, GM Authority is putting the spotlight on 2025 Buick Enclave towing capacities.
First of all, here’s an overview of the powertrain used to handle Buick Enclave towing for the 2025 model year. The only available engine is the turbocharged 2.5L I4 LK0 gasoline engine generating output of 328 horsepower and 326 pound-feet of torque. Cog swaps are handled by the GM 8-speed automatic transmission, while all trims and configurations rely on a 3.49 axle ratio.
To power up their 2025 Buick Enclave, buyers can also opt to add the Trailering Package (RPO code V92) to their vehicle for an additional $650. Offered on all three trim levels, this package includes the following content (RPO codes in parenthesis):
- Trailer Hitch
- Heavy-duty engine cooling system (V08)
- Hitch Guidance (CTT)
- Hitch Guidance with Hitch View (PZ8)
- Tow / Haul mode
With these preliminaries in mind, you can check out the full breakdown of 2025 Buick Enclave towing capacities in the table shown here:

Notably, Buick Enclave towing capacities for the 2025 model year are unchanged, despite the crossover now equipping a more powerful engine than the powerplant used by the 2024 Buick Enclave – the naturally aspirated 3.6L V6 LFY gasoline engine developing 310 horsepower and 266 pound-feet of torque.
The Buick Enclave towing figures also spotlight the effectiveness of the Trailering Package for those who need to pull heavy loads. The amount the vehicle can pull is more than tripled in all cases by the package. With this optional add-on, towing capacity is raised from the basic 1,500 pounds to a full 5,000 pounds for all trims and drivetrains.
Owners interested in using their Buick Enclave towing capabilities should also refer to the 2025 owner’s manual for various tips and recommendations. These include general towing techniques along with requirements that are specific to the Tri-Shield brand model itself.
For instance, it is critical to avoid towing a trailer at all during the first 500 miles of the Enclave’s use, which is a break-in period during which towing could damage the crossover. The vehicle should get its first oil change before towing, and the first 500 miles of towing should be carried out at less than 50 mph, with gentle starts to avoid overstraining the crossover.
In addition, there are a number of features and technologies General Motors recommends deactivating prior to pulling a trailer, including:
- Park Assist
- Reverse Automatic Braking
- Rear Cross Traffic Alert
- Rear Cross Traffic Braking
- Lane Change Alert
- Adaptive Cruise Control
- Super Cruise
As a reminder, the third-gen Buick Enclave rides on the same GM C1 platform that underpinned the second generation. Production takes place at the GM Lansing Township plant in Michigan.
Comments
But no brake controller, makes no sense.
The manual also says trailers over 1000lbs need to use a trailer brakes and no trailer brake controller is included with the towing package. So really all versions are limited to 1000lbs according to the manual.
