GM has issued a manufacturer communication through the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA) regarding the Chevy Blazer EV, but it’s not a safety hazard. Instead, it’s about a quality issue with the in-car communication system, which could impact the quality of phone calls from inside the car.
Some Chevy Blazer EV drivers have had complaints about call quality when using the electric SUV’s Bluetooth system to make phone calls. This manufacturer communication from GM “communicates that poor phone call sound may be due to microphone being installed upside down.” Luckily, it’s an easy fix. Owners can take their EV to their local dealer, and a technician will “reinstall the microphone to ensure it is installed correctly.” The communication applies to both the 2024 and 2025 model years of the Blazer EV.
This is the latest in a recent series of quirks encountered by the Chevy Blazer EV. Earlier this month, the 2025 Chevy Blazer EV, along with the Equinox EV and ICE Blazer, was recalled for defective door strikers, affecting 215 Blazer EV units. Last month, a service bulletin from GM explained how dealers could fix an issue with 2024 Chevy Blazer EV models’ windshield wipers only operating on the highest speed setting. Also in September, GM issued two Customer Satisfaction Programs for certain units of the 2024 Blazer EV, which may not be receiving over-the-air updates because the serial data gateway module needs reprogramming.
In more positive Chevy Blazer EV news, the electric crossover gets a slew of updates for the 2025 model year. The FWD model starting at $45,995 is launching soon, the long-awaited 595-horsepower Blazer EV SS will finally begin deliveries in the first quarter of 2025, and the RS RWD model gets output and range increases for the new model year. The 2025 Blazer EV is available to order now, and deliveries should begin soon, but only for the LT AWD, RS RWD, and RS AWD variants.
The Chevy Blazer EV is underpinned by the GM BEV3 platform, while GM batteries and GM drive motor technology motivate it. Vehicle production is carried out at the GM Ramos Arizpe plant in Mexico.
