SAIC-GM-Wuling, General Motors’ second joint venture in China, has just launched the all-new Wuling Hong Guang EV in the domestic market of that country.
The automaker officially launched the all-new Wuling Hong Guang EV in China, as the newest member of Wuling’s portfolio of fully electric commercial vehicles with which the company aims to consolidate its sales leadership in this segment of the Chinese market. In fact, the new Hong Guang EV introduces the third generation of the brand’s successful compact MPV and represents the first zero-emission variant of the model that debuted in 2010.
“Wuling has decades of commercial vehicle manufacturing experience and a loyal base of users numbering in the millions. With the Hong Guang EV, Wuling is once again driving to the forefront in the NEV era,” said Executive Vice President of SAIC-GM-Wuling, Vincent Wong. “Our newest model embodies Wuling’s focus on continuous progress and providing value for consumers. It marks another step forward in the new energy commercial vehicle segment,” he added.
Notably, the all-new Wuling Hong Guang EV is the first model built on Wuling’s new energy commercial vehicle platform and debuts the “new pragmatism” design philosophy, combining the classic MPV format with refined elements to enhance the balance between styling and practicality. It measures 177.8 inches long, 67.0 inches wide and 70.5 inches high, riding on a 112.2-inch wheelbase.
Available in five- or six-seat 2+2+2 cabin configurations, the all-new Wuling Hong Guang EV continues the tradition of the model family by offering a rear-wheel drivetrain, while incorporating an electric electric motor with an output of 75 kW or 100 horsepower. The MPV also features a robust suspension, a liquid-cooled smart battery providing a CLTC-cycle driving range of 300 km or 186 miles, and an automatic transmission as standard.
The all-new Wuling Hong Guang EV is now available to order via the Wuling Auto App and the brand’s other digital sales channels in China, ahead of deliveries starting at the end of October. The all-electric version of the Hong Guang celebrates the 14th anniversary of the nameplate that has been the best-selling rear-wheel-drive MPV for 13 consecutive years, both in the Chinese market and the world. Pricing is as follows:
- 2025 Hong Guang EV 5 Seats: 69,800 yuan (about $9,950 USD at the current exchange rate)
- 2025 Hong Guang EV 6 Seats: 72,800 yuan ($10,380 USD)
