A GMC Sierra pickup truck driver recently learned the hard way about the importance of securing cargo in the bed, as a viral video captured a lumber spill that left an embarrassing trail across the road. The 23-second clip, which recently surfaced on social media, shows the truck’s bed packed with a large stack of unsecured lumber before the contents make a quick exit.
According to the video overlay, the incident took place last April, while comments suggest it occurred in Oregon.
The footage was captured by the dash cam of a nearby motorist. The quick video clip begins with the GMC Sierra approaching a four-way intersection and making a left turn. The dash cam vehicle follows closely, revealing that the Sierra’s cargo. As we can see, the lumber is sticking out from the truck’s bed, and looks like it will easily fall out at the first provocation.
Predictably, the stack of lumber starts to shift as the Sierra slowly accelerates down the road. A few pieces slip out first, quickly followed by the entire load. All of the lumber ends up scattered across the road, making for a rather embarrassing scene for the GMC Sierra driver.
The mishap should serve as a clear reminder for anyone loading up their vehicle with cargo to properly secure their load before taking off, so as to avoid accidents or embarrassing situations like this one:
[OC] Yard sale! He definitely didn’t slap it and say that’s going nowhere.

One solution would have been to leave the tailgate up, so the lumber would remain propped up on top of the tailgate and wouldn’t easily slide out at the first opportunity. While not ideal, this solution is certainly better than what the GMC Sierra driver in the video above did. Ideally, the driver should have used ratchet straps and secured the lumber to anchor points, while wrapping the bundle together. Hopefully, this little incident provides the driver with a learning opportunity to take such measures in the future.

Lumbar?
People can be such idiots. Seeing dangerous items on the freeways in California is a daily occurrence. Some of the items lost from unsecured loads cause bad accidents and can be fatal.
What I don’t get is how these morons can’t think past their next booger pick.
You’re right, Sparky! No forward-thinking skills. Ah, the shortcomings of a DA and a short bed.
Lumbar sticking out, must be painful. I hope the police gave him an adjustment.
Weed heads.
I never follow behind anyone with a trailer or load.
Imagine a project built by someone this dumb. The right truck for the load size matters.
Can you say dumb A__
I work for an auction company and you wouldn’t believe the people that come to pickup their stuff up with nothing to tie it down. Then theirs the people that have ratchet straps but no idea how to use them. I swear we are heading towards a population of people that expect the government will take care of them no matter what they need. Dumb asses everywhere.
LOL. Tell us how you really feel, Rob .
He was building a fence. We know which side the neighbours will be staring at.
The rest of his project will probably go as well.
