A new viral video is making the rounds on social media showing a dad learning a valuable parenting lesson when his toddler begins scaling the family’s Chevy Suburban. What starts as a tender moment between father and son turns dangerous, but luckily, mom is there to save the day.
The video is less than a minute long, and looks as though it was captured by the home security camera.
The scene unfolds in a quiet suburban neighborhood. Parked in the driveway is a shiny new Chevy Suburban. A dad is seen holding his toddler, walking into frame. In a somewhat baffling move, the dad decides to place the baby on the hood of the Suburban, and what happens next clearly takes him by surprise.
In the video, we see the baby turn around and begin crawling up the windshield, making its way to the roof of the SUV. The dad, looking utterly stunned, seems unsure of how to handle the situation. His confusion grows as the baby makes it to the top of the Suburban. From off-camera, we hear the mom’s voice, filled with both concern and frustration: “How are you getting him down?”
The situation escalates when the toddler crawls across the roof, heading dangerously close to the rear edge of the vehicle. At this point, it becomes clear that dad’s plan – or lack thereof – has backfired. “Daddy’s a dingleberry!” the mom calls out.
As the baby inches toward a potentially dangerous fall, mom springs into action. She quickly climbs onto the Suburban’s hood and roof, scrambling to retrieve the adventurous toddler before any harm can come to him. While the SUV might have suffered a few dents, it’s clear that keeping the baby safe was the top priority.
Indeed, sometimes mom’s quick thinking is all that stands between a close call and disaster. And while we’re all for teaching the next generation about cars, maybe start with something a little closer to the ground.

Piss poor brain-dead parenting. And their choice of vehicle doesn’t disclaim that either.
Meh, back in the 70s parents would throw their kids in the bed of a pickup and drive off. You might get the occasional advice of, “Don’t stand up”.
Not a 2-year old and this ‘dad’ is an idiot!
And I flipped out on my 3 year old for crawling into the front seats from the back of my XT5 while nearly stepping on the button filled center console.
Oh boy. I bet the dad got an ear full off camera! Rightfully so.
That thin sheet metal is going to have dents all over it; first from the child and then the mother. That family probably isn’t the brightest and living a highly leveraged life to afford that ride and that neighborhood.
Probably a lease so he doesn’t care. What a dumbass.
