A new viral video shows a wild police chase in Arkansas involving a Chevy Tahoe piloted by suspected drug traffickers. The chase reached speeds in excess of 130 mph, and involved multiple collisions with both police vehicles and other motorists. The chase eventually ends after law enforcement deploys spike strips and the Chevy SUV crashes into a fence.
The video is over 30 minutes long, with the chase documented in the first 10 minutes.
According to a police report, the chase occurred on September 23rd, 2024. Law enforcement from Oklahoma and Arkansas engaged in a high-speed pursuit involving two vehicles linked to a drug trafficking operation after Sequoyah County and Oklahoma Highway Police notified officers of two suspect vehicles on I-40 heading eastbound toward Arkansas. Despite multiple attempts to stop the vehicle with PIT maneuvers, the Tahoe evaded capture.
In the video, we see the Chevy Tahoe driving recklessly as law enforcement trail close behind, swerving around other motorists. At one point in the chase, spike strips are deployed, disabling the Tahoe’s front left tire before the Chevy Tahoe hits another motorist.
The pursuit ends around the 10-minute mark after the Tahoe exits the road and crashes through a fence, at which time the driver decides to flee on foot. The driver was eventually apprehended after attempting to steal another vehicle.
Upon investigation, officers uncovered two locked suitcases containing approximately 240 pounds of methamphetamine and 2.2 pounds of fentanyl. In addition, $4,300 in cash was recovered from the driver. Meanwhile, the driver of a second vehicle was apprehended by Oklahoma Highway Patrol after crashing into another car. It’s believed that the driver in the second vehicle was attempting to distract officers to protect the Chevy Tahoe during the pursuit.
Both suspects were charged with trafficking controlled substances, possession of drug paraphernalia, fleeing by vehicle, and other related offenses. Damage caused during the pursuit included the fence ($2,000), a patrol vehicle ($7,500 to $10,000), and damage to other vehicles caught up in the chase.
