Chevy Equinox EV Is GM Canada’s 3rd Best-Selling Vehicle In Q3 2024

The Chevy Equinox EV got its big debut for the 2024 model year, with the 2025 Chevy Equinox EV introducing a few important updates and changes. Notably, the all-electric Equinox is showing impressive sales strength in the Canadian market. In fact, the Chevy Equinox EV was GM Canada’s third best-selling vehicle last quarter.

According to the latest sales figures, GM Canada delivered 5,702 units of the Chevy Equinox EV over the course of the third quarter of the 2024 calendar year, ranking the all-electric Equinox at third overall in terms of GM sales across the Canadian market. The only two GM models to post higher sales figures in the Canadian market were the ICE-powered Chevy Silverado at 12,354 units delivered for the quarter, and the ICE-powered GMC Sierra with 15,080 units delivered for the quarter. Meanwhile, the Chevy Trax and GMC Terrain rounded out the top five at 5,266 units and 3,301 units, respectively.

The latest sales results marked GM Canada’s best EV sales quarter on record.

“Our diverse portfolio of EVs contributed to our best EV sales quarter to date, led by the affordable Chevrolet Equinox EV,” said GM Canada vice president of sales, service, and marketing, Shane Peever. “GM Canada remains the sales leader for 2024, steered by our EV momentum and strength of our gas-powered vehicles.”

Meanwhile, sales of the GMC Hummer EV SUV rose by a whopping 1,500 percent, GMC Hummer EV Pickup sales rose 100 percent, and Cadillac Lyriq EV sales rose 200 percent. Overall brand sales were up as well, with Chevrolet sales rising 7 percent, Buick sales rising over 100 percent, and Cadillac sales rising more than 20 percent.

As GM Authority covered previously, federal zero-emission vehicle (ZEV) rebate claims in Canada climbed during the month August, largely driven by a flood of rebate requests from the Canadian province of Quebec. Critically, the most incentive requests during that time period were for the Chevy Equinox EV, with 1,853 incentive requests made, more than the 1,833 incentive requests made for the Tesla Model 3.

  1. With the exception of the two trucks listed I’m seeing less new gm vehicles year over year on the road. Those EV’s are mostly in Quebec, Ontario, and lower mainland BC/Vancouver island. I’ve seen zero equinox ev’s, one hummer ev, and one caddy ev. I don’t know what kind of real situation the dealerships are in but the lots look full of unpurchased ev’s.

    1. Sooner or later you will have to face reality. EVs are the future!

      1. I don’t deny that it’s coming but so far it hasn’t been gm (or ford for that matter) in my area. Lots of teslas, nissans, toyotas, and now hyundais. Part of the slow uptake is there are not and have never been any provincial grants for purchasing an EV in my province. BC, Ont, and Que have offered rebates. I think Quebec offered up to 13k. There has been a 5k rebate from the federal gov’t but that truly doesn’t offset the difference in purchase price vs an ICE equivalent. Also, living in the northern half of a province that is below freezing for 5-6 months a year makes the case more difficult for many people here. Maybe it is a perception problem but it is one that has not been handled well by the domestic auto makers. so yeah, driving past the local ford lot I see rows of EV’s for sale and driving on the road I see almost none. local caddy dealers have almost none in stock and I’ve seen one on the road. I see one bolt for every 10 tesla of any model. Shoot one liners all you want. I’m just sharing what I actually see in my area. Why don’t you share which EV’s you see?

        1. I see plenty of Equinox EVs on the road, and they just recently started selling. I also see lots of EV6, Ioniq 5, and Mach E. So I don’t think EVs are having any problems selling in Canada.
