Inventory on Chevy dealership lots is currently at 80 days supply, slightly above the U.S. auto industry average of 77 days supply for August 2024 and notably higher than the 60 days supply considered optimal by American dealers.
Inventory is relatively high at the moment, possibly including that of Chevy, in part because of the late-summer arrival of 2025 model-year vehicles, according to reporting by Cox Automotive.Â
Chevy inventory increased by 16 days supply between July and August, with 64 days supply on hand during July. Last September, the Bow Tie brand had a 57 days supply at dealers, indicating either that the volume of new vehicles being sent to dealerships has increased, the rate of sales has dropped year-over-year, or both.
A snapshot of Chevy vehicles at dealerships or in transit to them during late September shows that around 334,579 units are currently available for buyers to choose from.
Zooming in on the numbers of specific models using Chevrolet figures, sales figures, and GM Authority estimates, inventory of electric vehicle nameplates is plentiful, despite strong sales in July and August. The Blazer EV has an estimated 5-month supply, while, in contrast, the ICE-powered Chevy Blazer has an approximate 2.5-month supply at dealerships.
The Silverado EV has a 110 estimated days supply versus an approximate 80 days supply for the ICE Silverado pickup. The 2024 Chevy Suburban and 2024 Tahoe have high days supply in stock at about 90 days and 70 days respectively, at exactly the same time that refreshed 2025 vehicles are arriving.
Meanwhile, the Chevrolet Malibu sedan has very low supply at 28 days, the Express van is down to about a 20 days supply, and the remaining Chevrolet Bolt EV, Chevrolet Bolt EUV and Chevrolet Camaro stock has shrunk considerably, showing the very last units are being sold.
Average prices are down about 1 percent both month-over-month and year-over-year according to Cox. Best-selling models include several affordable crossovers, including the Toyota RAV4, the Honda CR-V, and the second-generation, fully reworked Chevy Trax.
