The Cadillac Lyriq serves as the luxury marque’s very first production EV, offering Caddy-style luxury and polish, plus GM’s latest electric vehicle propulsion technology. Notably, the Lyriq is available in a variety of global markets, including Europe and Germany. Now, the Cadillac Lyriq has secured the win as German Luxury Car of the Year.
The German accolade was announced in a social media post by vice president of Global Cadillac, John Roth.
“All awards are appreciated, but this one, from an established global luxury market like Germany, is tremendous recognition that we have delivered a truly extraordinary vehicle,” Roth writes.
German Luxury Car of the Year award winners are determined by a group of roughly 40 European auto experts on a mission to “recognize and inspire excellence and innovation in the automotive industry.” According to Roth, Cadillac is the first American brand to take the award home.
“The Lyriq is the cornerstone of the brand’s electric future and is proving to be a solid foundation to build upon globally,” Roth writes. “The Lyriq’s formula for success includes great design, more than 300 miles of range and a competitive price. We will follow the same formula for future Cadillac EVs, including the Optiq and Escalade IQ, which hit the market later this year, and the Vistiq, which we look forward to revealing later this year.”
Cadillac launched its new all-electric business in Germany this past May, later expanding its EV retail and services ecosystem in the country late last month. As part of the rollout, Cadillac announced that it will open all-new Experience Centers in Frankfurt and Hamburg, as well as expand its service network and offer customers a new app designed specifically for the German market.
Meanwhile, the Cadillac Lyriq is finding traction in the U.S., as well, with Roth boasting that Cadillac is now the first “full-line luxury brand to sell more than 20,000 EVs with a single model” during the first three months of the 2024 calendar year.
As a reminder, the Cadillac Lyriq rides on the GM BEV3 platform, while production takes place at the GM Spring Hill plant in Tennessee.

Good for Cadillac. How about a reference to the publication or organization that made the award?
look up GCOTY and you will find the website.
Well that’s a great honor. Way to go Cadillac and Lyriq.
Cadillac is back baby!
That is absolutely awesome Cadillac!! Congratulations to all involved. I know I love mine. 👏🏽👏🏽👏🏽
After surviving the first 6 months of early adapter hell (13 weeks in and out of shop, 3 different dealers) my Lyriq has been perfect. This is my 5th electric vehicle out of the 100+ cars and trucks I have owned. I will never go back to ICE. 30,000 miles and counting.
