Cadillac Escalade IQ Will Be GM’s Most Profitable EV Yet

First breaking cover in August of 2023, the 2025 Cadillac Escalade IQ marks the first all-electric production vehicle to wear the iconic Escalade nameplate. No surprise then that the Escalade IQ is replete with high-end features and technology, with pricing starting well into the six-figure range. Interestingly, the Escalade IQ will also be GM’s most profitable EV yet.

During a presentation given at the recent GM Investor Day event, GM President Mark Reuss discussed the new Cadillac Escalade IQ, providing a little insight along the way.

“We have more EVs on the way, including what will be our most profitable yet, the Escalade IQ. […] This is an unbelievable work of art, in fact, we’re driving the test fleets right now and this is an unbelievable vehicle that’s gonna come to market here very quickly.”

As GM Authority covered back in July, pricing for the 2025 Cadillac Escalade IQ starts at $129,990 for the base Luxury 1 trim level, rising to $130,490 for the Sport 1, $149,990 for the Luxury 2, and $150,490 for the Sport 2. As expected, the Escalade IQ also offers a wide range of options and extras, such as standouts like the Executive Second Row Seating Package (RPO code ABV, $7,500), which enhances rear-seat comfort thanks to features like a Rear Command Center, Second-row captain’s chairs (RPO code AL4) with ventilation and heating, 10-point power massage second-row seat adjuster (RPO code AJV), and more.

Tech items include a standard pillar-to-pillar 55-inch LED display on the dash and the Smart Trailering Package (RPO code ZL6). There’s also an array of styling upgrades on offer, such as a Black Painted Roof option (paint code 41T, $1,100) and Midnight Steel Frost exterior paint (paint code GLG, $5,925).

  1. Wow, the LowIQ has a high price.

  2. “most profitable” doesn’t mean it is profitable. Will the vehicle actually be profitable? EVs have been selling for tens of thousands of dollars below the cost to build them.

    1. The 2025 Silverado EV with Max Range Battery is $78k. This has the same platform, motors and battery pack yet has a base price that is $52k higher. Given that they’ve just said they’d attain ‘variable profitability ‘ for EVs by this quarter, they’ll definitely be making money with this model.

    2. I agree. It will be the most profitable means that is will lose less money per vehicle than other EVs.

How would you be privy to that kind of information?

  3. Escalade IQ is significantly taller, wider and maybe longer than the ICE version. No way that’s fitting into a residential garage. Why didn’t GM stop to think that someone spending over a buck and a half on a vehicle is going to want a garage it??? This thing makes the Excursion look tidy.

    1. Isn’t it technically considered a commercial vehicle @ 9,000lbs? Maybe it’s meant to be stored in warehouses.

    2. It’s 1.3″ wider and 0.6″ shorter (height) than a normal wheelbase Escalade.
Length-wise it’s 12.4″ longer than the standard Escalade, 2.3″ shorter than an Escalade ESV.
Size-wise it compares to what is already available on the ICE side.

    3. its an inch shorter overall than a Suburban. There are plenty of Suburbans and ESVs in peoples’ garages

    1. Right, because Baby Boomers and Gen Xers are known for understated taste and quiet restraint.

There are extraverted, flashy people in all age groups, this has nothing to do with “the youths.”

  8. If the only goal is to make it, theoretically, the most profitable EV, then why not start the pricing in the seven-figure range?
