The all-new 2025 Chevy Equinox marks the debut of the fourth generation for the popular crossover, bringing with it a host of new features designed to enhance its safety, convenience, and style. Among the more notable features is the Rear Camera Mirror and Rear Camera Washer. Interestingly, these features are relatively rare in the compact crossover segment.
Offered as part of the optional Safety and Technology Package (RPO code CWN), the Rear Camera Mirror (RPO code DRZ) replaces the traditional rearview mirror with a high-resolution video feed that streams a live view behind the vehicle to a display mounted in the usual mirror location inside the cabin. This feature significantly expands the driver’s field of vision, offering a 300-percent wider view compared to a standard mirror. By bypassing typical obstructions like passengers, headrests, or tall cargo items, the system provides a clear and comprehensive look at what’s behind the vehicle.
The Rear Camera Mirror is also paired with a Rear Camera Mirror Washer (RPO code CWA) to ensure that the view remains clear. This feature can spray washer fluid onto the rear-mounted camera lens to remove dust, mud, snow, or ice, ensuring that the picture is visible at all times – something that’s particularly important in poor weather.
Notably, GM initially launched this feature on the Cadillac CT6 luxury sedan, making it something of a surprise to see on an entry-level crossover like the 2025 Chevy Equinox. Nevertheless, this demonstrates how innovations once reserved for luxury models eventually trickle down to more accessible vehicles, offering premium features to a broader audience, albeit at a later date.
The Rear Camera Mirror and Washer are also relatively rare features in the compact crossover segment, giving the 2025 Chevy Equinox a technological edge over its competitors. This, along with the crossover’s refreshed design, new Activ trim level, and revamped interior, positions the 2025 Equinox as an attractive option for those seeking a modern and tech-forward compact model.
As a reminder, the 2025 Chevy Equinox cradles the turbocharged 1.5L I4 LSD gasoline engine as standard and rides on an updated variant of the GM D2 platform. Production takes place at the GM San Luis Potosi plant in Mexico.

Seems like a nice feature to have, and the washer is necessary to get full benefit of it.
If they would get rid of the TURDBO JUNK I might consider one. I currently have a 2019 equinox diesel. 40+ mpg. These gas turbos are crap. I had a diesel gladiator but seeing all the issues with them and Stellantis I traded it in for a Mustang GT Premium convertible.
You don’t want to get rid of your turbo engine because the new ones have a turbo?
This feature and the package being required is the main reason we recently bought a new 2024 CT4 instead of 2025. $1650 or so option on the 2024 & required on the 2025. Regular rear view mirror & backup camera are still working for me along with blindside monitors, brake assist etc in the 2024 optional safety package. This 2025 required package also includes heads up display (have dash display for this information & it’s a SUV type not a sports car) & a phone charger (can be done at home as I’m not a long haul driver). We love our CTV Premium Luxury In Radiant Red Tintcoat ($1650 option for paint!) but it listed for $47,165 with $1500 with dealer discount & gm rebate.
My 23 Bolt EUV had those features, should have been standard from the beginning.
Recently GM announced that the Chevy Equinox EV will start at a low price of $35,000. This is in response to Ford reducing price of MachE to $36,500.
GM offers almost everything on it except a decent powertrain. Similar to many of their other crossovers. They’ve dropped the higher output engines and not replaced them with an adequate hybrid with both decent power and gas mileage.
My 2019 Equinox was the best Equinox of the 6 that I have owned. It had the 2.0 motor, dual exhaust and a training package. Please bring them back!!! My 2022 Equinox is a dog no power.
