As anticipated with the all-new 2025 Cadillac XT5’s pre-order period start in mid-September, SAIC-GM has just officially launched the redesigned midsize crossover in China.

General Motors’ main joint venture in China launched the all-new 2025 Cadillac XT5 in the local market of that country on Sunday, September 29th, during a special launch event dubbed the “Dream Valley Autumn Art Festival” hosted by the luxury brand over the weekend in Shanghai. Cadillac expects the second-generation 2025 XT5 to become the luxury ICE midsize crossover benchmark in the Chinese market.

“The all-new Cadillac XT5 sets the new standard for luxury midsize SUVs through its heritage, contemporary design, advanced technology and comprehensive safety features,” said Vice President of Cadillac China, Tim Heile. “It will further solidify Cadillac’s standing in the luxury SUV market and inspire customer loyalty and enthusiasm,” he added.

Notably, the all-new 2025 Cadillac XT5 launches in China with Luxury, Distinguished, and Platinum trim levels. As standard, all include a full suite of advanced technology and safety features, such as a class-leading 33-inch 9K curved display, a 15-speaker AKG sound system, and driver assistance systems with 18 sensors that deliver high-definition 360-degree vision.

Mechanically, all three versions of the new 2025 Cadillac XT5 are powered by a mild-hybrid powertrain consisting of the turbocharged 2.0L I4 LSY engine paired with a 48V electric motor, developing a combined 174 kW or 233 horsepower and 350 Nm or 258 pound-feet of torque. The propulsion system is mated to GM’s nine-speed automatic transmission as well as the brand’s Hummingbird all-wheel drivetrain.

The all-new 2025 Cadillac XT5 is now available for sale at Cadillac’s official dealer network in China, where the automaker has received more than 5,000 orders during the pre-sale period. The midsize luxury crossover is manufactured exclusively at the SAIC-GM Cadillac Jinqiao plant in Shanghai to supply the domestic market, where more than 420,000 units of the XT5 have been sold since its introduction in 2016. Here is pricing:

  • 2025 XT5 Luxury: 265,900 yuan (about $37,900 USD at the current exchange rate)
  • 2025 XT5 Distinguished: 295,900 yuan ($42,180 USD)
  • 2025 XT5 Platinum: 335,900 yuan ($47,880 USD)

Maybe we’ll get these vehicles after all if the Chinese don’t land up buying them because they are ditching GM (since their sales are tanking in China) and GM has no place for them there. But by then, many US XT5 owners looking to trade theirs in would have moved onto Lexus, Acura, Genesis and Lincoln as they ignore the Lyriq.

Not looking like the 48 volt system is doing enough for power. Hope gm does better with hybrids here.

As a 8 time purchased new Cadillac owner. What are you thinking? Keep catering to China and lose he US market. I have owned a Deville, Dts,Xts and 2srx 3 xt5.I can’t buy a full size car CT6 only in China is it available. Good work Mary B.
