American Expedition Vehicles (AEV) is now offering an upgraded winch kit for off-road enthusiasts driving the Chevy Colorado ZR2 Bison and GMC Canyon AT4X AEV Edition. In addition to the compact sizing, he winch offers pulling capacity up to 9,500 pounds.
Named the Seal Slim 9.5rs Waterproof Series winch, this kit is tailored for 2023-and-newer models of the Chevy Colorado ZR2 Bison and GMC Canyon AT4X AEV Edition, enhancing both vehicles’ off-road resilience. The kit includes a compact winch unit, controller, wiring, and a wire harness, along with both a wired waterproof remote, and a Bluetooth wireless remote, adding versatility when it’s needed most. Also included are a front license plate bracket and a user manual.
“This winch kit is specifically designed to work with 2023+ GMC Canyon AT4X AEV Edition and 2023+ Chevy Colorado ZR2 Bison with an AEV stamped-steel front bumper, resulting in an OEM level of fit and finish,” AEV states.
Using a 12V DC power source, the winch features a thermal protection switch to prevent overheating, and also utilizes a hardened steel, three-stage planetary gear train for durability under load. The 100-foot synthetic rope is crafted from 12-strand material coated for abrasion resistance and waterproofing.
The new winch is available through the AEV website with a retail price listed at $2,260.
Granted, the Chevy Colorado ZR2 Bison and GMC Canyon AT4X AEV are already framed as the most trail-ready versions of their respective lineups, complete with AEV-exclusive front and rear bumpers, comprehensive skid plate protection, and specialized wheels and tires for enhanced performance on rugged terrain. The Chevy Colorado ZR2 Bison marks the first formal collaboration between Chevrolet and AEV, combining the Bow Tie brand’s engineering expertise with AEV’s off-road know-how into one cohesive mid-size rig.
Both pickups ride on an updated variant of the GMT 31XX platform, while vehicle assembly takes place at the GM Wentzville plant in Missouri.
