General Motors unveiled the all-new third-generation GMC Terrain for the 2025 model year, showing off new exterior styling, an overhauled cabin, and a long list of tech features. As was the case previously, the third-generation GMC Terrain will once again offer the luxurious Denali trim as the range-topper of the lineup. Now, we’re taking a closer look at the new GMC Terrain Denali with the following GM Authority Live Photo Gallery.
As GM Authority has covered previously, the 2025 GMC Terrain will launch late in the 2024 calendar year, with the new Elevation trim offered as the entry-level model for the next-generation crossover. Meanwhile, the new GMC Terrain Denali and GMC Terrain AT4 will launch during the 2025 calendar year as part of GMC’s 2026-model-year lineup.
This particular 2026 GMC Terrain Denali was seen parked at the 2024 Texas State Fair, and appears to be covered in Downpour Metallic paint (paint code GXP). Notably, Downpour Metallic will not be available for the 2025 GMC Terrain Elevation.
Up front, we find this next-generation GMC Terrain Denali wearing a signature Denali grille, which incorporates a number of bold styling elements finished in chrome, all of which is matched with chrome trim in the lower bumper. Further chrome trim is seen around the corners of the fascia, while the Denali’s headlamps include an animation feature as standard.
Moving over to the sides, we spot additional chrome detailing in the side windows and door handles, as well as lower in the doors and in the badging. The 2026 GMC Terrain Denali is equipped with 19-inch wheels as standard, while 20-inch wheels are optional.
Viewed from the rear, this 2026 GMC Terrain Denali shows off big, bold Denali badge high on the tailgate, plus complementary chrome trim in the bumper. Further chrome detailing underlines the tail lamp housings, with Denali trims also featuring standard animation features for the taillights. Lower in the corners of the tailgate, we spot the Terrain nameplate and GMC badging.
All third-generation Terrain configurations are fitted as standard with the turbocharged 1.5L I4 LSD gasoline engine, which is rated at 175 horsepower and 184 pound-feet of torque in the Elevation trim level with front-wheel drive, matched to the GM continuously variable automatic transmission. Meanwhile, in the Elevation AWD, AT4 and Denali, the engine produces 175 horsepower and 2023 pound-feet of torque, with the GM eight-speed automatic transmission providing the cog swaps. Under the skin, the next-gen Terrain rides on the GM D2 platform, while vehicle production takes place at the GM San Luis Potosà plant in Mexico.

With a less desirable engine, this might not do well and push more sales to the Envision.
That Denali badge on the rear is way beyond OBNOXIOUS.
It’s an overflowing basket of cheesy styling details. And could you add more badges? And look at the white GMC beside it, it has 4 chromed exhaust outlets. One per cylinder? Stick with the theme and add 4 hood scoops? How on earth does any of this fit “professional grade” positioning…they’re gauche-grade. On the other hand, they could serve, without modification, in the remake of Family Vacation. Come on GM, you can do this, bring in the team that cleaned up the Tahoe.
Other than the overly chromed front, it looks like a solid rig. It just seems at $45k it should come std with a more power hybrid drivetrain

I was at the fair last Tuesday and did not see any GMC vehicles.
Did see a lot of SUV from various makers and they were 80K and up

I like it! But, it’s really too bad GM refuses to bring their current Chevy Equinox Plus PHEV technology to the US; 96 miles on a single charge. I guess it’s part of GM’s obsessive strategy to push their EV’s by reducing MPG’s on their latest gas models and offering zero hybrid and PHEV options. Currently, GM is the least-hybrid-oriented of the Big Three. Pathetic. And, BTW, our EV technology is already obsolete compared to China.
Looking at the nose of the new Terrain Denali makes me want to plan a FAMILY VACATION for 2026. GM is working hard to destroy two nice SUV’S, both Equinox and the Terrain. It just gets harder for a loyal GM customer to buy GM.

How can this be a 2026 when the 2025s haven’t launched yet? That being said, it’s a nice-looking vehicle.
They are releasing the Denali and AT4 later in 2025, so they get 2026 Model Year designation. The 2025 Elevation AWD comes first later this year and the Elevation FWD comes in spring of next year.
Throw in a sunroof and wheels, you’re pushing 50K. With an engine displacement equal to a Harley to carry 4 people and “stuff”.

I feel the 1.5 turbo will go well in a hybrid configuration, similar to Hyundai’s turbo-hybrid, hence they are keeping it. Perhaps a hybrid Equinox/Terrain is coming?

Surprising that it’s a 2026 and not a 2025. Also shocked at all the chrome on the front. With literally everything switching over to cheap black plastic this does seem at odds with the follow the leader industry trends all these manufacturers are changing over to. This really deserves either a 2.0T or a hybrid with around 225-230 HP for the sticker prices!

“professional” grade appearance and execution. Mary, hire some decent stylists and get in touch with current styling trends.
I think both the interior and exterior styling are very nice, particularly the instrument panel and front fascia. If this was available with the PHEV powertrain that is offered in China, I think it would be a home run. Hopefully, the 0-60 will be less than 7.0 seconds. It talks the talk, but it needs to walk the walk too.
I read that there will be a 2.0 259 hp which means premiumrick gasolene.
