2025 GMC Yukon Production Now Under Way

The 2025 GMC Yukon debuts a mid-cycle refresh complete with several important updates and changes, including revamped exterior styling, a wealth of new interior tech, and two new trim levels. Production of the 2025 Yukon was originally slated to begin on Monday, October 7th, but was delayed as the result of a temporary plant shutdown stemming from a parts shortage. Now, however, production of the 2025 Yukon is under way.

Production of the 2025 GMC Yukon officially kicked off on October 9th, 2024, two days later than was originally scheduled. Vehicle production takes place at the GM Arlington plant in Texas alongside the rest of GM’s full-size SUV lineup. As is usually the case for new or refreshed models, the first units built will be subject to a quality hold.

Production at the GM Arlington plant was halted late last week following a parts supply issue stemming from disruptions at several of GM’s suppliers affected by Hurricane Helene, including Linamar Corporation, located in Asheville, North Carolina. Linamar Corporation reports that its Asheville and Mills River plants were flooded and damaged by the storm, including a collapsed roof, and that roughly 40 percent of company workers were unreachable due to down communications and road closures. Production resumed on Monday.

The parts supply issue also affected the GM Flint Assembly plant in Michigan, which produces the Chevy Silverado HD and GMC Sierra HD.

As for the 2025 GMC Yukon, the latest refresh introduces new styling with an updated, more tuck-like appearance, once again incorporating C-shaped lighting signatures in the front fascia. Wheel sizing up to 24 inches in diameter is available.

The trim level lineup was revamped as well, with the new entry-level Elevation trim replacing the SLE and SLT trims offered prior to the refresh, similar to adjustments made to several other GMC vehicle lineups, including that of the Canyon, Acadia, and Terrain. Meanwhile, the new-for-2025 Yukon AT4 Ultimate joins the lineup as a more luxurious option to the off-road-spec AT4.

With regard to the powertrain setup, the 2025 GMC Yukon is available with three engine options, including the naturally aspirated 5.3L V8 L84 gasoline engine, the naturally aspirated 6.2L V8 L87 gasoline engine, and the new-for-2025 3.0L I6 LZ0 turbodiesel Duramax, the latter of which replaces the 3.0L I6 LM2 offered prior to the 2025-model-year refresh.

All 2025 GMC Yukon variants ride on the GM T1 platform.
