2025 GMC Yukon Loses This Family Friendly Seating Feature

The refreshed 2025 GMC Yukon debuts a long list of updates and changes, including new exterior styling, new wheel designs, new tech features, and a new optional diesel engine. The latest 2025-model-year refresh also debuts updates to the trim level lineup, with the SLE and SLT trims replaced by the new-for-2025 Yukon Elevation. Critically, this trim level shakeup also results in the deletion of one particular family friendly seating option.

The seating option in question is the 40/20/40 split front bench seat (RPO code AZ3) offered by the 2024-model-year Yukon SLE, which increased the SUV’s seating capacity to an impressive nine passengers. When equipped, the 40/20/40 split front bench seat replaced the standard front bucket seats (RPO code A50) and deleted the center floor console (RPO code D07).

Now, with the elimination of the SLE and SLT trim levels in conjunction with the most recent refresh, the 2025 GMC Yukon drops the optional 40/20/40 split front bench seat previously offered for the 2024 model year. As a result, max seating capacity for the 2025 Yukon is set at eight passengers when equipped with the standard second-row 60/40 split-folding bench seat (RPO code ATT), or seven passengers when equipped with the optional second-row bucket seats (RPO code ATN). To note, the optional second-row bucket seats are available on the Elevation and AT4 trim levels, and equipped as standard on Denali, Denali Ultimate, and the new-for-2025 AT4 Ultimate.

In addition to introducing the new entry-level Yukon Elevation and the more-luxurious AT4 Ultimate off-roader, the latest 2025 GMC Yukon also offers the new 3.0L I6 LZ0 turbodiesel Duramax engine, which drops in as a replacement for the outgoing 3.0L I6 LM2 turbodiesel Duramax offered prior to the 2025 model year refresh.

Meanwhile, the gasoline powertrain lineup continues to include the naturally aspirated 5.3L V8 L84 gasoline engine and the naturally aspirated 6.2L V8 L87 gasoline engine. Under the body panels, the GMC Yukon rides on the GM T1 platform, while production takes place at the GM Arlington plant in Texas.

  1. For some unknown reason if you opt for a second row bench seat in the Denali, air ride suspension can not be ordered. Makes no sense to me but maybe it does to therein counters at GM.

    2. I’m looking at the Elevation and I can’t get a second row bench if you order the Technology Package. I just don’t get it. This would be my 3rd Yukon and I know I’m a minority in this, but prefer the bench over the captain chairs.
