2025 GMC Sierra HD SLE, SLT Currently Unavailable With 2WD

Two 2025 GMC Sierra HD trim levels are currently unavailable to order with rear-wheel drive, specifically the 2025 GMC Sierra HD SLE and SLT. Both trims are presently only available to order with four-wheel drive. It’s unclear at this time how long this constraint will be in effect, or if 2WD variants of the 2025 Sierra HD SLE or SLT will be available again at any point in the remainder of the 2025 model year. It’s also possible that this signals a change in the Sierra HD lineup moving into the 2026 model year.

Certain 2025 GMC Sierra HD trims are currently unavailable to order in rear-wheel drive.

As for the engine lineup, the naturally aspirated 6.6L V8 L8T gasoline engine is equipped as standard, with output rated at 401 horsepower and 464 pound-feet of torque. Meanwhile, the 6.6L V8 L5P turbodiesel Duramax engine is optional, with output rated at 470 horsepower and 975 pound-feet of torque. The Allison-branded GM 10-speed automatic transmission is equipped as standard with both powertrains. A more-capable variant of the GM T1 platform provides the underpinnings, while production takes place at the GM Flint plant in Michigan.
