As more details emerge about the 2025 GMC Canyon, GM Authority has learned that a new Nightfall Edition package will be available. The Nightfall Edition was first available on the GMC Canyon for the 2015 and 2016 model years, but 2025 marks the first time it’s available for the third-generation GMC Canyon. Since the AT4 version of the Canyon wasn’t available until 2021, it’s also the first time the GMC Canyon AT4 is available with the Nightfall Edition package.
As its name implies, the Nightfall Edition (RPO XNF) is primarily an appearance package with a dark theme. It includes 20-inch Machined face aluminum wheels with Dark Pockets (RPO RHO) with 275/60R20SL all-terrain tires (RPO QAE), Rocker Panel Protectors (LBO S6L), a tubular bed-mounted sport bar (LPO SBY), and black badges (LPO RIK).
Interestingly, ordering the Nightfall Edition package is the only way to get 20-inch wheels on a 2025 GMC Canyon AT4 since the previously available 20-inch Full Gloss Dark Gray machined-finish aluminum wheels (RPO RD5) aren’t coming back for 2025.
The Nightfall Edition package cannot be ordered in conjunction with the AT4X Package (RPO XEW) or the AT4X AEV Edition package (RPO XEV). As we reported earlier this week, Canyon AT4X is now an option package for the AT4 trim rather than its own trim.
As before, all 2025 GMC Canyon trim levels will be equipped with the turbocharged 2.7L I4 L3B engine, now branded as the TurboMax, developing 310 horsepower and 430 pound-feet of torque. A revised GM eight-speed automatic transmission handles the shifting duties. Only the Elevation trim level is offered in 2WD and 4WD configurations, while four-wheel drive is standard on AT4 and Denali trims.
The 2025 GMC Canyon will continue to ride on an updated variant of the GMT 31XX platform, while production will once again take place at the GM Wentzville plant in Missouri, alongside the Chevy Colorado, the Chevy Express, and the GMC Savana.
Although originally scheduled to begin production on October 28th, 2024, the start of regular production (SORP) for the 2025 GMC Canyon has been pushed back to December 2nd, 2024.
