2025 GMC Canyon AT4 Gets Revised Technology Plus Package

There’s some content reshuffling happening in the 2025 model year for the GMC Canyon. A couple of the biggest updates include the Canyon AT4X and Canyon AT4X AEV Edition becoming option packages for the GMC Canyon AT4, a new Nightfall Edition for the AT4 trim, and the Canyon Safety Plus Package coming standard on every trim.

Another change this year is to the Technology Plus Package available for the 2025 GMC Canyon AT4. Revisions were made due to the Canyon Safety Plus Package (RPO Y5W) now becoming standard. Previously, there was a Technology Package (Y5X) available for the Elevation and AT4 trims, but now it’s exclusive to the Elevation trim. It adds Rear Pedestrian Alert (UKK), Adaptive Cruise Control (KSG), and HD Surround Vision (UV2). The 2024 model’s Technology Plus Package (Y5D) further added a multicolor 6.3-inch head-up display (UV6) and required the AT4 Premium Package (PCU).

Things are a little different for the 2025 GMC Canyon AT4. There’s still a Technology Plus Package, but its RPO code changed from Y5D to PDG. It still requires the AT4 Premium Package, but now adds a power sunroof (CAC) and a Bose 7-speaker audio system (UQA) in addition to last year’s contents.

For reference, here’s what comes with the AT4 Premium Package:

  • Jet Black/Timber perforated leather-appointed front seating surfaces (HX6)
  • Driver memory recall (A45)
  • 6-way front passenger seat (A7J)
  • Power lumbar front passenger seat adjustment (AT9)
  • Rear seat center armrest (DA5)
  • Driver seatback pocket (E90)
  • Wireless charging (K7A)
  • Heated steering wheel (KI3)
  • Ventilated driver and front passenger seats (KU9)

In addition, here’s what comes with the AT4 Technology Plus Package (PDG):

  • Adaptive cruise control (KSG)
  • Rear Pedestrian Alert (UKK)
  • HD Surround Vision (UV2)
  • Power sunroof (CAC)
  • Bose premium 7-speaker sound system with external amplifier (UQA)
  • Laminated acoustic windshield glass (AKK)
  • Multicolor 6.3-inch diagonal head-up display (UV6)

All of this to say; the power sunroof and Bose audio system used to be standalone options for the GMC Canyon AT4, but now, you can only get them through the Technology Plus Package. This might sound convoluted, but it actually adds some simplicity to the GMC Canyon model range by having fewer piecemeal options and more features bundled in packages. It’s all part of what GM keeps calling the “Winning with Simplicity” initiative.

The 2025 GMC Canyon will continue to ride on an updated variant of the GMT 31XX platform, while production will once again take place at the GM Wentzville plant in Missouri, alongside the Chevy Colorado, the Chevy Express, and the GMC Savana. Power comes from the TurboMax turbocharged 2.7L I4 L3B engine, rated at 310 horsepower and 430 pound-feet of torque. The base Elevation trim has standard 2WD and optional 4WD, while the other two trims (AT4 and Denali) have standard 4WD.

Production of the 2025 GMC Canyon was initially scheduled to begin on October 28th, 2024, but the start of regular production (SORP) has been pushed back to December 2nd, 2024.

  3. I would like to know why GMC has recalled the 2015 thru 2019 canyons, for the transmission issues ? I purchased a 2018 GMC Canyon Denali, from a dealership. And 2 months later the transmission starts going by , 65,000 miles on truck , truck starts vibrating and shuddering, when shifting thru the higher gears, biggest problem is my truck been in shop for a month now , waiting on all the parts to come in, at mercy of the part suppliers !

  4. I would either take this or the CTB. I know CTB’s price is lower, but this truck has a bit of luxury trade in it. I would consider it more like a Buick type of comfort in a pickup truck. I’m definitely think the Denali would be more comfortable. Ehhh…..I’ll just take the AT4 if I have money for it.
