2025 Chevy Tahoe And Suburban Production Now Under Way

Production of the 2025 Chevy Tahoe and 2025 Chevy Suburban sport-utility vehicles kicked off at the GM Arlington Assembly plant in Texas on the morning of Wednesday, October 9th, 2024, GM Authority has exclusively learned.

The 2025 Chevy Tahoe and Chevy Suburban debut a comprehensive mid-cycle refresh that includes vigorous new styling, an overhauled interior, and new tech goodies among other significant changes.

Start of regular production (SORP) for the Chevy Tahoe and Suburban was originally scheduled for Monday, October 7th, 2024. However, the devastation caused by Hurricane Helene affected the suppliers sending engine and transmission parts to Arlington Assembly and the GM Flint Assembly plant in Michigan, causing a production halt. While production resumed on Monday, this likely explains why it took two more days for 2025 model-year Tahoe and Suburban units to start rolling down the assembly line.

Notably, the initial 2025 Chevy Tahoe and Chevy Suburban vehicles that started coming off the line on Wednesday will be subject to a quality hold. This is normal procedure for General Motors models that are either new or have been refreshed with the new model year, and does not indicate any problems.

Pricing for the 2025 Chevy Tahoe starts at $60,495 for the entry-level LS trim with 2WD and ranges up to $81,695 starting MSRP for the High Country trim equipped with 4WD. Meanwhile, 2025 Suburban prices are slightly higher, with the 2WD LS trim priced at $63,495 and the 4WD High Country trim motivated by the L87 V8 engine starting at $86,195.

A significant number of updates to the Tahoe and Suburban are introduced for the 2025 model year, with a full comparison of standard features between the two models offered in one of our recent posts. Availability of the GM Super Cruise feature has been expanded, with the driver assist system now a standalone option on the Premier and High Country trims and included in the revised Advanced Technology Package (RPO code PDN) for the LT and RST trim levels.

Three paint colors have been dropped from both models, while two new exterior paints – Cypress Gray (color code GBD) and Lakeshore Blue Metallic (color code GXP) – have been added to the palette as indirect replacements. The Tahoe’s RST Performance Edition package (RPO code WPK) will continue to be offered for the 2025 model year.

Meanwhile, engine availability has been revised for both the 2025 Chevy Tahoe and the 2025 Suburban. Both sport-utility models are motivated by three available powerplant choices, including the naturally aspirated 5.3L V8 L84 gasoline engine developing 355 horsepower and 383 pound-feet of torque, the naturally aspirated 6.2L V8 L87 gasoline engine providing 420 horsepower and 460 pound-feet of torque, and the new-for-2025 3.0L I6 LZ0 turbodiesel Duramax engine rated at 305 horsepower and 495 pound-feet of torque.

  1. It baffles me that production has started, and review units have been distributed, but we STILL can’t build and price them.

      1. I’ve been waiting to see the price of the new models. Did they give you a price for your Z71? That’s the model I want to get.

    4. Very frustrating………have ordered 2 different Chevrolet’s over the last 4 years and neither one of them ever got picked up by GM……..standing in line again and hoping to order a 2025 Tahoe the way I want it not the way GM wants to build them……

      1. That’s the trouble with a “build”…………they want to load it up to jack up the price.
I want a simple “base” corvette….any color, but base.
I have tried true car (useless).
I bought a new Chevy trailblazer (wonderful SUV)
The same salesman called about a month later saying, “I have your corvette……but there’s a $10,000 mark up. I said “NO” and he stopped calling. That was back in 2022. Now I dont’ want a corvette.

  8. So bummed to hear the navy blue is being dropped. And WHY do we not have a light-colored seating option? Black on black interior in Texas is terrible. Love the lighter color options but it seems mfg are really pushing black these days.
