2025 Chevy Suburban Z71 Duramax Diesel In Cypress Gray: Live Photo Gallery

Officially revealed back in November 2023, the refreshed 2025 Chevy Tahoe and 2025 Chevy Suburban bring some big updates to America’s favorite full-size SUV duo. In addition to an updated look inside and out, the Tahoe and ‘Burban get a new diesel engine with more power and torque, a new infotainment system, and the Super Cruise hands-free driving system. We just tested out the new Tahoe and Suburban in Texas, and we’re taking a closer look at the 2025 Chevy Suburban Z71 in the following GM Authority Live Photo Gallery

As a Z71 model, this particular unit is the rugged off-roader of the Suburban lineup, slotted between the sporty RST trim and the fancy Premier model. Power for the SUV we tested comes from the aforementioned 3.0L I6 LZ0 turbodiesel Duramax engine, a first for the Suburban Z71, producing 305 horsepower and 495 pound-feet of torque. This Chevy is coated in a new paint option for the 2025 Suburban: Cypress Gray (color code GBD), which had a greenish hue in the sunlight.

For starters, we can see that the refreshed Chevy Suburban retains its boxy proportions but with a new execution of the two-tier lighting treatment that’s been so popular across all four North American GM brands. The front end of the 2025 Suburban Z71 is actually quite different from the 2024 Suburban Z71, especially in the lower fascia.

On the 2025 model, the Suburban Z71’s face has a better balance of gloss black and painted trim pieces. We like the metallic surround around the red tow hooks on the refreshed model, and we think the more subtle skid plate is an improvement. It retains a clean look while still providing a more favorable approach angle than the less rugged trims in the Suburban lineup.

These rollers are also new to the Chevy Suburban for the 2025 model year: 20-inch bright machined and painted Technical Gray aluminum (RPO R4M) wrapped in Goodyear Wrangler Territory AT. Black tubular side steps (RVS) further enhance the off-road look.

The rear end of the 2025 Suburban Z71 has some subtle but notable differences compared to the 2024 model. Our favorite update to the back is the round quad exhaust tips, which add to the Z71’s macho look. It also has more black trim on the tailgate around the Chevy emblem and a revised trim piece on the lower fascia with nicely integrated red reflectors. Of course, a “Duramax” badge is present and accounted for on the liftgate.

Regular production of the refreshed 2025 Chevy Suburban began last week. Pending GM’s usual quality hold for new and refreshed models, this full-size SUV should be arriving in showrooms by the end of the year. Pricing starts at $63,495 for the LS trim with 2WD, but the 4WD-only Z71 model begins at $73,495 with the 5.3L V8 L84 engine, $79,035 with the 3.0L I6 LZ0 diesel (like the model you see here), and $79,800 with the 6.2L V8 L87.

  1. Sure enough looks very good in that new color. Very nice vehicle for those who can afford it. Front end reminds me a lot of the current GMC Canyon.

  2. Nobody wants the 3.0. Save your money GM and put the 6.6 in with Allison trans that is what we want, along with the 2500 suspension 8 lug axles etc. GM is too busy making a lineup of garbage cars nobody wants. If Upper management continues to turn a blind eye and just collect a check, it won’t be long before GM sells Cadillac in a futile attempt to stay afloat, then just die. As much as I love GM, if they can’t hire good people to run the company, I say too bad when the GM badge gets retired and joins the ranks of other defunct American auto businesses
