We love the 2025 Chevy Suburban, which got a nice mid-cycle refresh alongside its mechanical twin, the 2025 Chevy Tahoe. A few highlights of the refresh include updated aesthetics, a new diesel engine with more power and torque, a new infotainment system, and the Super Cruise hands-free driving system. We recently drove the new and improved 2025 Chevy Suburban Z71, and we’re bringing you a detailed, hands-on tour of the updated exterior in the video above.
Starting with the new Cypress Gray paint (color code GBD), it’s a dynamic color that can change a bit depending on the lighting. Under certain lighting, it can have blueish and greenish hues, but most of the time, it has a medium gray tone.
The front fascia is thoroughly reworked with the 2024 refresh. The grille is all-new and unique to the Z71 trim, with a high-gloss black finish and a black Bowtie emblem. It boasts a dual-tier lighting treatment that’s been popular across GM. Compared to the pre-refresh Suburban, it has bigger C-shaped DRLs and the actual headlights have been relocated inside those C-shaped lights. A pair of fog lights are subtly tucked into the bottom of the fascia. Naturally, being an off-roader, the Suburban Z71 has red tow hooks, a favorable approach angle, and a skid plate.
The refreshed Chevy Suburban’s side profile isn’t much different from previous models. Of course, an exception is the brand-new wheel design worn by this model. They’re 20-inch bright machined and painted Technical Gray aluminum (RPO R4M) wrapped in Goodyear Wrangler Territory AT, exclusive to the Z71.
Moving our way around to the back of the Suburban Z71, some small changes with the 2025 refresh include a redesigned taillight graphic (now all-LED), a black trim piece that runs all the way across the width of the liftgate, and a Duramax badge. Part of the 2025 refresh is the Duramax engine becoming available on the Z71 trims of the Tahoe and Suburban for the first time.
Regular production of the refreshed 2025 Chevy Suburban began in October. Pending GM’s usual quality hold for new and refreshed models, this full-size SUV should be arriving in showrooms by the end of the year. 2025 Suburban pricing starts at $63,495 for the LS trim with 2WD, but the 4WD-only Z71 model begins at $73,495 with the 5.3L V8 L84 engine, $79,035 with the 3.0L I6 LZ0 diesel (like the model you see here), and $79,800 with the 6.2L V8 L87.

Love these videos, they’re in depth and help me understand what’s what. Planning on picking up a Z71d in January.
Another overpriced (and ugly looking) vehicle from GM. Cheap interiors (relative to the price of $90,000) are standard equipment.
These are NOT MADE for those who want luxury…like you do. If that is the case, look at the European Competition, Lexus or Cadillac.
