GM has revealed new details on the 2025 Chevy Silverado EV, and it’s all good news. Prospective electric truck buyers will be happy to hear that the most affordable Work Truck (WT) trims of this EV have gone even lower.
We reported back in August that the 2025 Chevy Silverado EV 2WT, 5WT, and 8WT trims would start at $58,995, $71,395, and $79,695, respectively. Now, we’re pleasantly surprised that their MSRPs have gone even lower, although the destination charge has increased from $1,995 to $2,095. Luckily, the math works out to all three WT trims being $1,900 more affordable. This means that all three WT trims can potentially qualify for the $7,500 federal EV tax credit.
Trim Level | Drivetrain | 2025 MSRP + DFC |
---|---|---|
2WT Standard Range | 4WD | $57,095 |
5WT Extended Range | 4WD | $69,495 |
8WT Max Range | 4WD | $77,795 |
LT Extended Range | 4WD | $75,195 |
LT Extended Range with LT Premium Package | 4WD | $81,995 |
RST Extended Range | 4WD | $89,395 |
RST Max Range | 4WD | $97,895 |
All three WT trims have the same power and torque output, but different GM Ultium battery packs. The 2WT has the Standard Range battery (range TBD), the 5WT has the Extended Range battery (422-mile range), and the 8WT has the Max Range battery (492-mile range), giving it the longest range estimate in the whole Silverado EV lineup.
The 2WT and 5WT trims have the same max towing and payload capacities, but the 8WT trim’s capabilities are a little lower. The 8WT has the same max tow rating as the RST model with the Max Range battery and a slightly better max payload rating.
Another perk of the 8WT trim is that it has the potential to charge faster. It comes standard with the 19.2 kW on-board charging module speed that’s optional on the 5WT and unavailable on the 2WT. In addition, the 8WT benefits from a max DC fast charging speed of 350 kW. This unlocks the maximum charging speed of as much as 100 miles per range in just 10 minutes of charging, according to GM.

Such a weird trim denotation. They can’t just go with 1, 2, & 3? What does 5 & 8 even mean? Glad to see its cheaper but it needs to be even cheaper still. 12 & 8k bumps between the 3 trim levels is crazy and it should start closer to 50k. Not many are going to picking up what they are putting down at those prices for a WT. Want it to go to the masses and turn EV’s in to more of an option to ICE? Price it along side ICE or much closer. A CC 4wd Silverado ICE WT starts at 48k and a Custom trim at 51K, add any options to the base EV at 57k to start and it jumps to 69k. I can a ZR2 Silverado for that rather than a base trim with some options EV.
The 3WT was replaced by the 5WT and the 4WT was replaced by the 8WT.
You also have to factor in the commercial tax credit each of these get. You will get an additional 7500 off the MSRP at sale.
The good thing is that it has the best range in its class.- towing is a different story….The BAD thing is the possibility of battery fires.
I see Teslas here in Qatar and am still not convinced about the EV hype…
Best towing range of any EV!
Kinda off the point, but…why don’t they put a built in solar panel in the roof of these EV’s. It can’t hurt on helping the battery charging. ???
You’d only gain like 1 or 2 miles a day with how small the panels would be.
