EPA-estimated driving range for the 2025 Chevy Equinox EV has been increased for the all-wheel drive configurations of the crossover, while fuel economy equivalent ratings depend on the specific onboard charger.
The table below shows the new driving range figures for the 2025 Chevy Equinox EV and compares them to the previous ranges for the 2024 Chevy Equinox EV. Power consumption in kWh per 100 miles and fuel economy equivalent in MPGe are also compared:
2025 Equinox EV FWD | 2025 Equinox EV AWD | 2025 Equinox EV AWD | 2024 Equinox EV FWD | 2024 Equinox EV AWD | |
---|---|---|---|---|---|
On-Board Charger (kW) | 11.5 | 11.5 | 19.2 | 11.5 | 11.5 |
Driving Range (miles) | 319 | 307 | 307 | 319 | 285 |
City/Highway/Combined Energy Consumption (kWh/100 miles) | 29 / 34 / 31 | 30 / 36 / 33 | 32 / 38 / 35 | 29 / 34 / 31 | 33 / 37 / 35 |
City/Highway/Combined Fuel Economy Equivalent (MPGe) | 117 / 100 / 109 | 112 / 95 / 103 | 103 / 88 / 96 | 117 / 99 / 108 | 101 / 90 / 96 |
No changes have been made to the battery or powertrain of the 2025 Chevy Equinox EV by The General to result in these increases. The FWD variant keeps its estimated 319 miles of range on a single charge compared to the 2024 model-year equivalent. Meanwhile, the AWD configuration now offers 307 miles of range, up a significant 22 miles from the 2024 figure of 285 miles.
As the table shows, if the AWD variant is equipped with the optional 19.2 kW on-board charger instead of the standard 11.5 kW charger, range per charge remains at 307 miles, but the combined fuel economy equivalent rating drops from 103 to 96 MPGe. Per an explanation offered by a GM representative, vehicles equipped with the 19.2 kW charger are heavier on average because of their standard and optional features. This equipment mass difference factors into how the EPA calculates range estimates.
In the case of the 2025 Chevy Equinox EV, adding the 19.2 kW on-board charger involves choosing a series of prerequisite equipment options. These include the Bidirectional 3 kW capable power capable and 19.2 kW charging capable option (RPO code ZL5), only available on the all-wheel-drive Equinox EV RS trim level.
Furthermore, the buyer must also select the Active Safety Package 3 (RPO code AS3), the Convenience Package II (RPO code 6K5) and the dual-panel panoramic sunroof (RPO code CAJ). This lineup of equipment makes for a heavier vehicle and results in a lower estimated range. For now, the Bidirectional ZL5 package is also under constraint and unavailable to order.
This news about increased range per charge comes after a boost to horsepower and torque output was also confirmed for the 2025 Equinox EV. The crossover’s trim level lineup has been overhauled, with just two trim levels remaining, the LT and RS.
Pricing for the 2025 model year, as previously uncovered by GM Authority, starts at a base MSRP of $34,995 for the LT trim level and $44,795 for the RS trim. A destination freight charge of $1,395 is included in these prices. A video ad from the Bow Tie highlighted the under-$35,000 starting price of the LT, while interested buyers can try out different builds using the online configurator.
As a reminder, the GM BEV3 platform provides the bones for the Equinox EV, while GM Ultium batteries and GM Ultium Drive motors motivate the model. Production of the 2025 Chevy Equinox EV has been taking place since August 26th, 2024 at the GM Ramos Arizpe plant in Mexico.

Your quick tables are not showing properly in this article on firefox nor chrome so fix it please!
Now the base LT AWD with the 2 base options totaling about 40.5k now qualify for the NYS 2k full off amount direct to the dealer. Too bad the options did not allow for adding the Sunroof only without any other packages nicely bringing it just under the NYS about 42k limit to get the 2k amount otherwise defaulted to 500 rebate for all cars. And with the 307 mile range now on the AWD lower charge rate its time to order one. One problem is GMs configurator web site. In 3 different spots where miles are referenced for 2025 they still show the 285 and if you go to the inventory and look at the details you also see 285 there still. I chatted GM web site and they have clueless people there that could find out which is the real thing 285 or 307. Glad this article hopefully correctly confirmed indeed its 307 miles! It took to the 3rd chat the person confirmed. But up to then they have people working those chats they dont seem to know much and provide info on things I did not even ask about…i.e. telling me the RWD version…I said what RWD on Equinox? LOL.
All equinox are bidirectional capable. You don’t need the 19.2 charger for that.
Only if you buy thousands of dollars worth of GM Energy products, otherwise you can get the 19.2 kW charging option that lets you use V2L capabilities to power anything up to 3 kW, or with the V2V adapter I believe it’s 6 kW.
OMG. I cant believe you actually care. Hahahahaha.
According to the google, the 2025 AWD gasoline-powered Equinox has 406 miles of driving range. Yuge difference. So these articles talking up improved EV range are still laughable when looked at through a clear lens.
My bladder is gonna be ready for a stop before the EV range runs out.
Nice range bump. Now it just needs CarPlay.
When did GMA comments section lose the upvote/downvote?
A blue one at Capital Chev in Calgary. It was an RS and it was $60,000!!! Not kidding. F’n outrageous.
Exactly why I ordered an Optiq instead.
