2025 Chevy Equinox: Comparing The Front Grilles Across All Trims

The redesigned, fourth-generation 2025 Chevy Equinox has a decidedly more boxy and truck-like look than any of its predecessors. This is perhaps most apparent in its new front-end design, which has a flat nose and an upright shape, almost looking like it’s housing a bigger engine than it is.

The front-end design of the 2025 Chevy Equinox varies quite a bit across the model range. Let’s compare the front grille designs across all trims, starting with the base LT model. The Equinox LT is the only one with chrome in its grille and the only one with a gold Chevy bowtie emblem. It also has a relatively modest lower front fascia with a lack of painted trim pieces compared to the higher trims.

Adding the Midnight Edition package (WN5) to the Chevy Equinox brings 19-inch black painted aluminum wheels (PJW), high-gloss black mirror caps (EWE), black roof rails (V2P), and a blacked-out front end. The chrome pieces are gone and replaced with gloss black and dark chrome. Also, the gold Chevy bowtie becomes black.

The grille opening of the Chevy Equinox RS is just like the one on the Equinox LT, but the grille inserts are different. The one in the RS has fewer straight, horizontal lines and more geometric, trapezoidal shapes inside the grille openings, helping facilitate a sportier look. Like the LT Midnight Edition, it’s full of black trim and dark chrome. Also, the lower facia is a bit different and adds a thin, painted trim piece.

Finally, the Chevy Equinox Activ is by far the most rugged-looking of the bunch. It has a uniquely shaped grille opening that’s more rectangular, and a dark chrome trim piece surrounds it. It has honeycomb grille inserts a bit like the RS, but with larger openings. There’s a strip of painted trim between the middle and lower grille with more black trim in the lower corners.

As for the grille itself, the upper “grille” above the Chevy emblem actually isn’t a grille at all. It’s blocked off and provides no airflow to the engine bay. The middle and lower grille openings below the bowtie are the ones that handle the cooling of the engine.

  1. They spend all this money on different front ends which is going to be fun when collision times rolls around and there are 4 different ways to order them yet they can’t be bothered to break up the interior on the LT and RS by making the entire thing all black even the headliner! How about 2 front end treatments, one with chrome and one with some black trim for the sport editions and call it a day and instead give us interior options with some two tone like they always used to before! You don’t spend your time sitting on the front end you spend it inside driving!

    1. I agree Joe.
4 grill choices – probably two more than needed.

Hey, how about a choice of engines. I guess that’s asking too much of the Bowtie Gang

  5. Maybe give us an option on the motor instead of the lackluster 1.5?

    1. Yes, give us the option to choose the bigger 2.0 motor the 1.5 is a dog, also bring back the dual exhaust on the RS and trailer hitch factory installed.

  12. The 2.0 T belongs in this vehicle. Gen 2 normally aspirated Equinox has more horses and that’s
a dog. I know because I have one. Lame power train.
