2025 Chevy Colorado ZR2 Gets More Standard Features

The 2025 Chevy Colorado drops in as the third model year for the third-gen pickup, bringing with it a variety of updates and changes. These include revisions to the trim level lineup, with the LT now offered as a package upgrade, rather than a standalone trim level. In addition, the 2025 Chevy Colorado ZR2 off-roader will include more standard features than was the case for the 2024 model year.

Looking over the features list for the 2025 Chevy Colorado ZR2, we find several items previously available through the ZR2 Convenience Package III (RPO code PDD) for the 2024 model year now fitted as standard equipment for 2025. These include (relevant RPO codes listed in parentheses):

  • Perforated leather-appointed front seating (HFD)
  • Driver seatback pocket (E90)
  • Rear center armrest (DA5)
  • Driver memory settings (A45)
  • Ventilated front seats (KU9)
  • Heated steering wheel (KI3)
  • Wireless charging (K4C)
  • Safety Package (B26)
  • Rear Cross Traffic Braking (UFB)
  • Rear Park Assist (UD7)
  • Blind Zone Steering Assist with Trailering (UKW)

As it turns out, this means the Cloth / Evotex seats (RPO code HV3) are no longer available for the Colorado ZR2.

The 2025 Chevy Colorado ZR2 will be equipped with additional features as standard.

The decision to equip the 2025 Chevy Colorado ZR2 with additional standard features could be part of GM’s latest Winning with Simplicity initiative, wherein the automaker aims to reduce costs by streamlining its product approach, reducing design and engineering expenses, order complexity, buildable combinations, and manufacturing complexity. GM aims to leverage this strategy to save an estimated $200 million over the course of the 2024 calendar year.

Further changes for the 2025 model year include deletion of the standard turbocharged 2.7L I4 L2R gasoline engine. As such, the more-powerful TurboMax turbocharged 2.7L I4 L3B gasoline engine will be the only powertrain option on offer. The TurboMax L3B is rated at 310 horsepower and 430 pound-feet of torque, as compared to 237 horsepower and 259 pound-feet of torque from the L2R.

As a reminder, the 2025 Chevy Colorado rides on the updated 31XX-2 platform, with production kicking off in December at the GM Wentzville plant in Missouri.
