2025 Chevy Colorado Gets Three New Paint Colors

The 2025 Chevy Colorado arrives as the third model year for the midsize pickup’s third generation, bringing with it several noteworthy updates and changes. Among the changes is the deletion of the base-level turbocharged 2.7L I4 L2R gasoline engine, as GM Authority covered. In addition, the 2025 Chevy Colorado will replace three exterior paint options with three new hues.

The three exterior paint options no longer offered for the 2025 Chevy Colorado include Nitro Yellow Metallic (paint code GCP), Glacier Blue Metallic (pant code GLT), and Sand Dune Metallic (paint code GTL).

Nitro Yellow Metallic was introduced to the Colorado lineup in conjunction with the 2023 model year, but was built out for the 2024 model year back in March. Glacier Blue Metallic was introduced for the 2021 model year and was initially called Bright Blue Metallic before it was renamed for the 2023 model year. Finally, Sand Dune Metallic was introduced for the 2021 model year.

Both Glacier Blue and Sand Dune became unavailable to order as of June of the 2024 calendar year, and as such, GM Authority correctly predicted that both hues would be dropped following the conclusion of the 2024 calendar year.

The 2025 Chevy Colorado will no longer offer three specific exterior paint options.

Looking ahead, the 2025 Chevy Colorado will debut offer three new hues, specifically Snowdrift Metallic (paint code GAE), Reef Blue Metallic (paint code GAL), and Sunrise Orange (paint code GBF).

Interestingly, the Chevy Colorado is the second model in the Bow Tie lineup to offer Reef Blue after the 2025 Chevy Equinox. The Colorado is also the first Chevy vehicle to offer Snowdrift Metallic, although the color is the same as Cadillac’s Drift Metallic, which is available for the 2025 Cadillac CT4-V / CT4-V Blackwing and 2025 Cadillac CT5-V / CT5-V Blackwing. Additionally, the Colorado is the first Chevy vehicle to offer Sunrise Orange, with no equivalent offered by Buick or Cadillac, although the 2025 GMC Canyon offers the color as well – called Desert Sun.

With the departure of the turbocharged 2.7L I4 L2R engine from the powertrain lineup, the 2025 Chevy Colorado is now available exclusively with the turbocharged 2.7L I4 L3B gasoline engine, which is rated 310 horsepower and 430 pound-feet of torque. Under the skin, the 2025 Colorado rides on the updated 31XX-2 platform, while production is now scheduled to take place at the GM Wentzville plant in Missouri this coming December, five weeks later than was originally planned.

I’m generally a “blue” vehicle person, but after seeing a Reef Equinox Activ on a local lot I am not sold on it, it is pretty intense. Maybe I will like it better on the Colorado.

I was hoping Cacti Green would spread to the Colorado line. Toyota has sold a lot of Lunar Rock Tacomas, and I’ve seen a lot of Cactus Gray Rangers.

The other two new additions sound very promising, I like the Drift on the Cadillacs after seeing it in live photos.

Orange is always a nice color, and something different. I am not lamenting the loss of Nitro Yellow at all, too sour for me, so for an orange hue to effectively replace it on that spectrum sounds like a good thing.

Good lord GM you can’t even get colors right! You should have used your Lakeshore blue, Iridescent pearl, Slate Gray metallic on these trucks too. UGH

It’s really sad how lousy GMs color palette is. I’d joke that I don’t know whether they have Stevie Wonder or Ronnie Millsap in charge of color, but it would be a disservice to those wonderful artists. I agree that cacti green would look great on Colorado.

God forbid that Cadillac might have a unique color. Let’s put it on a truck! 🙄
I long for the good old days when GM thought a luxury brand should have a unique color palette.

GMAuthority is likely getting their info straight from GM’s online order guide. Anyone can go there. Right now, there are no CGI of the different colors, typically they don’t show when the rest of a new model year’s info is first posted. It takes a while.

Is the sunrise orange a mono or metallic color?

The old saying you can polish a turd but it’s still a turd. I bought my last GM product a few years back. Junk motor blew in a three year Equinox. GM should have recalled these instead of everyone having to jump on a class action suit. No more GM for me.
