2025 Chevy Blazer, Blazer EV And Equinox EV Recalled For Defective Door Strikers

General Motors has issued a safety recall for certain affected units of the 2025 Chevy Blazer, the 2025 Chevy Blazer EV and the 2025 Chevy Equinox EV vehicles for an issue related to possibly defective door strikers installed in a limited number of the crossovers.

Notably, none of the Chevy Blazer, Chevy Blazer EV or Chevy Equinox EV units included in GM Safety Recall number N242477131 have been delivered to customers at this time.

The problem: affected vehicles were manufactured using door strikers that may not have been correctly made by the supplier, resulting in them not meeting specs and potentially failing. Door strikers are part of the door latching system on a vehicle.

The hazards: the defective door strikers on the affected 2025 Chevy Blazer and other models may be weaker than necessary to withstand stresses during use. As a result, the strikers may break during normal driving or when a collision occurs, potentially causing the door to pop open. The open door could increase the risk of injury to vehicle occupants, both while driving or in a crash.

The fix: dealership service personnel are instructed to replace the potentially defective door strikers with new door strikers and bolts. This repair is to be carried out before the affected Blazer or other crossover units are delivered to customers.

Affected components: door strikers.

• 2025 Chevy Blazer
• 2025 Chevy Blazer EV
• 2025 Chevy Equinox EV

Number of affected vehicles: according to GM information, 731 crossovers are affected by this issue and the associated recall. Currently, all of the vehicles are in dealer possession or in transit to dealerships. This total includes 513 Chevrolet Blazers, 215 Blazer EV units and 3 Equinox EV units from the 2025 model year.

Note: GM Authority has received a statement about the field action from a GM representative, which says:

“General Motors is voluntarily recalling certain model year 2025 Chevrolet Blazers, Blazer EVs and Equinox EVs for defective door strikers. Dealers will replace all four door strikers on affected vehicles. We’re taking this field action out of an abundance of caution with the safety of our customers as our highest priority.”
