15 Percent Of GM Vehicles Will Include Super Cruise In 2025

With every model year, the Super Cruise hands-free driving system becomes more widely available across the GM product portfolio. According to the automaker’s Q3 2024 earnings presentation, it plans to continue that trend in 2025.

There’s one slide, in particular, that boasts the bragging rights of Super Cruise and GM’s near-future plans for the hands-free driving system. It said a whopping 280 million miles have been driven with Super Cruise engaged, the road network has expanded to 750,000 miles in North America, and it’s the industry’s first hands-free system with trailering capability.

As for future plans, GM expects about 15 percent of all of its vehicles in 2025 to be equipped with Super Cruise. 22 different models currently have it (up from 15 at the beginning of 2024), either standard or optional, and the General expects about 380,000 Super Cruise-enabled vehicles to be on the road by the end of 2024 and double that in 2025.

2025 is the first model year that any GM vehicle has Super Cruise as standard equipment on every trim, specifically the refreshed 2025 Cadillac Escalade and 2025 Cadillac CT5. 2025 is also the debut year for Super Cruise in the Buick brand with the redesigned 2025 Buick Enclave. It was originally announced it would be available in the refreshed 2024 Buick Envision, but Buick changed its plans. Super Cruise availability in the Enclave makes the technology available across all four of GM’s North American retail brands.

In other Super Cruise news, GM confirmed earlier this year that it’s merging its planned Ultra Cruise technology with Super Cruise. Ultra Cruise was intended to be a successor to Super Cruise, capable of hands-free driving in 95 percent of driving scenarios on 2 million North American roads. Instead of Ultra Cruise being its own thing, all development of GM’s hands-free driving tech is moving under the Super Cruise banner.

      1. Comparatively cheap, but there’s still a cost associated with it. Plus the steering wheel has the ugly light strip across the top. I’d pay extra to get a car without it just for that reason alone. Besides, I only do highway driving a half dozen times per year, so there’s a 0% chance I’m paying a $25/month subscription to keep it active. Regular cruise control works just fine. I don’t want the rearview camera mirror either, but they bundle it into higher trims, or packages that include features I do want like HUD.

        2. I understand that a lot of people don’t like a lot of new tech. You have to understand that the light strip on the wheel is the sensor to track what your face is doing. Enhanced Cruise Control works very well imho and hasn’t failed yet. It actually keeps the proper distance that most drivers do not adhere to (that’s dangerous).

          As for the Heads Up Display. I think it works far better for safety, than just looking down at your infotainment dash. It stays in my line of sight and doesn’t distract me for looking at everything. It seems every iteration of tech always bothers people, but lets look at history. Having music controls on the steering wheel to turn up the volume or move to the next track is a god send. Yes, you can turn the knobs on the radio too, but we are not in the 70’s no more. Yes, I’m that old.

          Cruise control people didn’t like either, but you don’t seem to mind it. You adapted to it and that’s cool if you don’t like things on your vehicle, but I agree. Everything should be customized and optional. That way you keep bloat or whatever out of “your” vehicle, but……I think new tech has more Pros than Cons. That’s just me though. I would even be willing to try out Super Cruise. Eventually, I am gonna need something to drive me around and my kids certainly are not gonna do it.

  4. Super Cruise has a problem on my truck that is dangerous and has not been repaired so far.
    When people are killed then GM will resolve it.

  5. I buy a new Tahoe or Yukon every year. I will not order Super Cruise until GM stops mandating that you have a rear entertainment system . The rear entertainment system is useless to me and I won’t be held hostage to buy it.
