GM has released a pair of Customer Satisfaction Programs for the 2024 GMC Hummer EV related to a previous recall and a previous Service Update, for a comprehensive software update and replacement of the chassis control module.
These customer satisfaction programs are related to both the 2024 GMC Hummer EV Pickup and 2024 GMC Hummer EV SUV variants of the nameplate.
Notably, GM dealership service personnel must first carry out the repairs indicated in Recall number N232431050, which involves updating the body control module (BCM) software to correct an issue in which the lower beam headlights of affected vehicles can fail to illuminate under certain conditions.
Furthermore, the fix described in Service Update N242439940 must also be applied before the customer satisfaction program remedies can be carried out. This fix involves replacing a faulty Serial Data Gateway Module that is incompatible with software updates, installing a new unit and programming it correctly to accept updates.
Once these two fixes are completed, the dealership service personnel can further repair the affected GMC Hummer EV as described in the two customer satisfaction programs. Customer Satisfaction Program N242435600 offers a repair which involves a comprehensive reprogramming of the Hummer EV’s software. This process will give the customer full access to “up-to-date technology, including the latest infotainment features, performance enhancements, and more.”
The other customer satisfaction program, number N242435602, is closely related to the first. It calls for replacing the Chassis Control Module, followed by a comprehensive software update and reprogramming the radio. Both programs are available free of charge to GMC Hummer EV owners through September 30th, 2026.
As a reminder, both Hummer EV variants are motivated by Ultium Drive motor technology supplied with electricity by Ultium batteries. The SUV equips a 20-module battery pack exclusively, while the Pickup can be fitted with either a 20-module or 24-module battery pack.
This powertrain develops 570 horsepower for the SUV’s 2X trim and 830 horsepower for the 3X and Edition 1 trims. The figures are similar for the Pickup when the 20-module battery is installed, but use of the 24-module battery increases output to 1,000 horsepower.
Both versions of the EV are underpinned by the wide-body variant of the GM BT1 platform, while production is carried out at the GM Factory Zero plant in Michigan.
