The current fourth-generation Chevy Silverado 1500 was unveiled on December 16th, 2017, dropping in for the 2019 model year. The pickup was formally unveiled at the Chevy Truck Centennial Celebration Weekend, hosted by Texas Motor Speedway in Fort Worth, Texas, and was something of a surprise, as the next-gen truck wasn’t expected to debut until early 2018. Nevertheless, GM went all out with the reveal, and now, we’re reliving the event with the following video.
The event got underway with an unforgettable entrance for the next-gen 2019 Chevy Silverado 1500. Attendees were treated to the sight of the full-size pickup soaring above the Texas Motor Speedway as it sat parked on a frame suspended by a helicopter, rising into the sky above an American flag before descending to the ground and driving up onto a ramp in front of fans and members of the media. In addition to the debut of the new 2019 Chevy Silverado 1500, the event also featured an array of Chevy trucks plucked from across several other generations to serve as the background.
The 2019 Chevy Silverado 1500 featured in the event was an example of the LT Trail Boss trim level, a new addition to the Silverado 1500 lineup for the 2019 model year. Offered as an upgraded version of the LT Z71, the new LT Trail Boss featured highlights like a gloss black front fascia, black rear step bumper, black Chevy Bow Tie badging, red tow hooks, and 18-inch gloss black wheels wrapped in off-road tires. The suspension was upgraded to Z71 spec, plus a two-inch lift, while the bumper integrated exhaust tips were raised as well. And of course, we can’t forget the requisite Trail Boss decals placed in the flanks.
The exterior was also dramatically overhauled, giving the light-duty pickup a distinctly modernized look. In our opinion, the subsequent 2022.5-model-year refresh lost some of that original character, but that’s an entirely different topic.
A total of eight trim levels were offered for the 2019 model year, including WT, Custom, Custom Trail Boss, LT, RST, LT Trail Boss, LTZ, and the range-topping High Country.
Engine options were plentiful as well, and included the naturally aspirated 4.3L V6 LV3, the turbocharged 2.7L I4 L3B, the naturally aspirated 5.3L V8 L82 / L84, the naturally aspirated 6.2L V8 L87, and the 3.0L I6 LM2 turbodiesel Duramax. As is also the case for the current model year, the GM T1 platform provided the underpinnings.

Seven years, wow.
All I remember was “Silvawado” over and over again.
Needed to drop in a lowered “SS” model with a supercharger on it before the pandemic hit, and knocked everything out of whack…along with other “things”
The 2019 4th Gen. models are much better than those produced post 2022.5 refresh. GM should have left the front air side-skirts alone.
2024 Chevy Silverado, base model, reg cab, standard box with the steel wheels in the colour black. That’s a real truck. 2.7l Turbomax I4 is my kind of engine. I wish I had that truck.
