Good news! Just stay on top of quality and engineering, no more shortcuts.
Yes. Not needlessly introduce new features like Ford does….hence also the QC issues and recalls.
This is one thing I like about GMC/Chevrolet. If they introduce an engine, they usually have a lot of bugs in the beginning which are sorted down to minimal level by the end of the production….like Toyota USED to do. For example, the 4.3L V6 Vortec was there for a long time when it ended production….
Others can criticize me however they want, but the fact remains this. I will not tolerate insults.
You need a haircut
Sales numbers are about to drop….
Because of?
Higher prices I am sure…yes it is ridiculous.
I like GM trucks; but I’mstill reeling after owning my 2014 loaded Silverado LTZ that had oil burning issues because of the Active Fuel Management ( AFM ). U would think that they would have learned from the Cadillac V 8-6-4 debacle and made sure the 5.3L Vortec engine was workng well with the AFM. But no…..I lost a lot of money on that pickup. I don’t trust GM anymore.
2014 was 1 of the worst years, I’d buy a 2026, right before they come out with the new design body and new engine on the Silverado. Cause from 2027 till like 2029 GM is going to have engine issues with they new engine, guaranteed. 2026 would be the last year of the current generation, things should be worked out by than.
This situation is not unlike the Ford / Mercury and Dodge / Fargo truck many years ago and we all know what happened to
Fargo and Mercury Trucks. Not only are Mercery trucks no longer manufactured but also Mercury cars. All were a consequence of poor sales. Since in both cases the Dodge / Fargo and the Ford / Mercury were essentially the same vehicle, I can’t understand what caused the vastly different sales numbers between the two manufacturing divisions.
Mercury was the premium division and had higher prices but with premium interiors and trim. Somewhat similar to Chevy and Buick or GMC. Mercury was also geared to the older crowd.
Paul
I thought we were talking about trucks and not the car division they represented in respect to the parent company.
Do you really believe that the Mercury trucks was better trimmed out than the equivalent Ford truck?
Further, I having owned both a Dodge and a Fargo truck of a same vintage can assure you that they were virtually the same with regard to functionality, appearance and interior features.
Mercury cars were mentioned as well, but the only Mercury trucks I’ve seen were from Canada and they were clones of the Ford trucks.
Paul
Exactly, the Mercury trucks were simply “clones of Ford Trucks” that is the whole point of my discussion and that was the same situation with the Dodge / Fargo trucks. However, both the Mercury and Fargo trucks were discontinued because of poor sales.
Further, the heading and text of this whole article refers to and is about Trucks, I didn’t see anywhere the mention of Mercury cars?
What a surprise when that’s the only thing that GM markets is trucks! Been to a Chevy lot recently to look for a CAR? Maybe 1 or 2 with the rest being trucks and CUV/SUV’s.
Not all buyers want one of those POS box on box, mall crawlers. Many of us still want a full-sized sedan.
I wonder what will Chevy do with the Colorado, to combat the 2025 Jeep E4 Gladiator 4 cylinder electric 365 horse power ?
