A new viral video captures the moment a cyclist is hit by a Chevy Impala in Indiana. The cyclist smashes the window, but miraculously rolls off the hood and lands on his feet. The driver ends up taking off, but luckily, the cyclist was more or less unhurt.
The footage was captured by what appears to be an action camera mounted on the bike of Jakob Morales, the cyclist involved. In the video, we see Morales cruising down a quiet neighborhood street, with the sun setting behind him. We see a Chevy Impala with a missing headlight heading in the opposite direction, when suddenly, the Chevy turns into the cyclist’s path at a T-intersection. The result is a terrifying collision as Morales hits the Impala’s windshield, his bike dropping to the ground and his sunglasses sent hurtling through the air.
However, despite the impact, Morales somehow rolls off the hood and lands squarely on his feet, while the Impala driver briefly stops before driving away.
In a later interview with Inside Edition, Morales said, “I really am lucky to be alive.” He recounted the surreal moment, noting, “You could see it on my face. In the moment, it was just pure terror. I braced, I ended up on the hood and miraculously landed on my feet.”
While Morales escaped with only minor scratches, his bike wasn’t as fortunate. Despite his initial attempt to chase down the Impala, his ride was out of commission.
It’s unclear exactly what happened, but it’s quite possible that the Chevy Impala driver didn’t see Morales until it was too late, blinded by the setting sun. In the video, we can see the Impala driver failing to slow down or even swerve, plowing straight into Morales on his bike.
Nevertheless, the driver will undoubtedly face legal issues if caught, in particular for the decision to flee the scene.

Obvious, somebody had accidents before in this Impala with the dents and even missing a headlight.
Luckily this bike rider got away with just some bumps and bruises.
Wonder if the bicyclist learned something about the stupidity of riding your bicycle in the street? I mean even children know better. Who am I kidding, of course he didn’t. He’s probably in some forum typing furiously about how he had the ‘right of way’.
Where is he supposed to ride it, in his living room?
Yeah, its the cyclist fault thats whay the Impala sped away.
I’ve been the victim and the assailant. When I was 13 I was riding no hands because I had groceries in each hand and all of a sudden I flew over top of the car coming at me. I flipped and landed chest down. I sprained the hell out of my left hand, but still played my baseball game that evening.
Then when I was about 20 I was delivering pizzas and I was turned left and probably going 40 into the curve and all of a sudden I saw some kid flying over my car. I never saw him. I stopped and it was a retarded kid that worked at McDonald’s at the top of the hill. He had no reflectors and it was about 9PM. Since he was not dead, I went back to the pizza shop to get more deliveries and the cops came. I told him that I had deliveries and I gave my name and phone number to the witness. Well, since we gave the cops free food, he told me the proper procedures and let me get back to work. No ticket!
If there was on officer…BOTH would be fined, more so the driver of the Impala.
Anyone that doesn’t stop should get ten years minimum if they are caught.
