Three popular Bow Tie brand models – the 2023 Chevy Silverado, 2023 to 2024 Chevy Suburban, and 2023 to 2024 Chevy Tahoe – are included in a new noncompliance recall issued by GM that is related to a failure in the brake fluid leak detection system.
Affected Chevy Silverado, Chevy Suburban and Chevy Tahoe units must be retained in dealer inventory, without being sold, delivered, demonstrated or traded to other dealerships, until the repair described in Recall number N242447990 has been successfully carried out.
The problem:Â Chevy Silverado, Suburban or Tahoe vehicles affected by the issue may experience a condition in which the unit does not display a BRAKE warning even after brake fluid is below safe levels in the event of a brake fluid leak, so that the owner is unaware of the leak and low fluid.
The hazards: with the leak occurring with no warning, brake performance is likely to degrade and make it more difficult to successfully brake the vehicle before a visible warning of the condition is displayed. This could result in a higher risk of accidents, collisions and driving problems related to brakes that do not perform as expected because of low fluid level.
Notably, the BRAKE warning light will not illuminate until the brake fluid level is somewhere below the level set out in FMVSS 135 when brake fluid loss should trigger a warning.
The fix:Â the failure of the BRAKE warning light in the event of a Chevy Silverado, Tahoe or Suburban brake fluid leak is a software issue requiring no parts to repair.
Two options are available to remedy the recall’s brake fluid leak warning issue. If available on the vehicle, owners can opt to accept a software fix via an over-the-air (OTA) update without visiting a dealership. Alternatively, owners can visit a dealership to have the update carried out there by reprogramming the brake system control module.
Affected components:Â brake system control module.

Shouldn’t this be 3 separate articles?
Nvm. Probably still have GMC and Cadillac. That should make up for it.
GM has really gone downhill in the past several years. Basically manufacturing 80 thousand dollar disposable vehicles. Bought a 2015 Tahoe NOT KNOWING they have a class action lawsuit against them regarding faulty transmissions!
