Check Out These Neat Chevy Silverado, GMC Sierra Cornerstep Lights

If you want to quickly dive into the bed of the Chevy Silverado or GMC Sierra, both trucks are equipped with Cornerstep bumpers, providing a small spot to place your foot and more easily climb up into the cargo area. However, this particular maneuver is made a bit more difficult if it happens to be nighttime or you’re operating in a dark environment. Luckily, the aftermarket has a solution.

Cornerstep bumper lights on offer for the Chevy Silverado and GMC Sierra.

These bolt-in Cornerstep lights are on offer from a company called Pod Holes, and look to add some illumination around the Cornerstep for all late-model Chevy Silverado and GMC Sierra trucks. That includes the 2019 through 2024 model years, as well as 1500 light-duty models and 2500 / 3500 heavy-duty models.

The Pod Hole Cornerstep lights are designed to fit the factory bumper and hook up to the factory cargo lights, all while maintaining a relatively stock appearance. The kit includes a “plug and play” wiring harness, as well as a mounting bracket to fit a set of Baja Designs S1 lights. Installation of the wiring harness is framed as a simple process, and doesn’t involve any cutting or splicing. “Simply unplug the stock harness and insert your Pod Holes harness to effortlessly brighten up the night!” Pod Holes writes.

Pricing for the kit is set at $230, and comes with mounting hardware and the wiring harness. The Baja Designs S1 flush-mount lights are sold separately, as is the slick-looking bolt kit, with both add-ons available through Pod Hole.

Of course, for those Silverado 1500 and Sierra 1500 models equipped with the GM Super Cruise system, the Cornerstep bumper cutouts are a bit smaller. Nevertheless, one GMC Sierra owner took it upon themselves to custom-install the kit, posting the results to social, as seen above.

All in all, it looks like a clean install, and the extra lighting will surely be appreciated as well.

Light should shine “downwards”…illuminate the ground / help stepping down.

It lights up the ground pretty well with the S1 lights

That’s a lot of bling for the lighting it offers. I’m sure it will come down in cost however.

    The ultimate goob accessory.

Do they sell them with the mandatory 3-ball hitch and bulls balls hanging from under the rear bumper?

Cargo lights are disabled in any gear but “P”

I would prefer if they also turned on when you shift the truck into reverse at night and also had enough lumens to make a difference. The OEM back-up lighting on my Silverado leaves a lot to be desired in illumination!

I changed my backup bulbs to LED. It makes a big difference. Ditto for the tag lights.

If you have your cargo lights switch turned on, the pod hole lights will turn on when you throw it into reverse.

I question this, as the cargo lights don’t work in any gear but “P”. Since the pod hole’s work on same harness, how can that be true?

Light should be mounted on the top part of the corner step facing down. Less likely to kick and bust the lense and you would not be looking straight at it at night.

230.00 just for the kit to mount the lights you have to then purchase. Then the bling bolt kit. Total is over 500 bucks. Hard pass

That’s just the harness and mount kit. Doesn’t include lights or hardware.

It came with the wiring harness. And you can buy the lights from them or directly from BajaDesigns.

Great addition to add some rear lighting to the trucks. For those looking to see them in action, I have a reel of me installing them and running them on my Instagram @PureZ71 (that’s my truck in the first image of the article).
