Comedian / actor / diehard car guy Kevin Hart has a more than a few drool-worthy GM muscle cars in his collection, and this custom 1969 Pontiac GTO Restomod is certainly no exception. Dubbed “Chocolate Droppa” after Hart’s musical alter ego, the GTO was built by the talented folks at Detroit Speed and is loaded up with a wide range of impressive features. Now, we’re getting a closer look thanks to the following in-depth video.

Clocking in at a little under 10 minutes, the video highlights the exterior, interior, and powertrain, providing some interesting insights into what it takes to make such a beautiful ride. Although the car features numerous modifications, it manages to blend classic muscle car aesthetics with modern performance and comfort, making for a stunning final product.

Starting with the exterior, the team incorporated a custom hood tach, originally a GTO feature, but repurposed as a boost gauge for the supercharged 6.2L V8 LT5 engine. To accommodate the supercharger, the hood scoops were extended, while the original Endura bumper was swapped for a steel piece from a Pontiac LeMans. Other exterior details include 3D-printed turn signal bezels with Kevin Hart’s logo, 20-inch gold HRE wheels, custom side mirrors, and blacked-out trim to complement the Mystic Brown paint. Subtle gold accents can be found throughout, including the side markers and 3D-printed rear vanity plate.

The interior was designed by Tavis Highlander and crafted by Avant Garde in Southern Florida. It includes custom gauges from Classic Instruments, with subtle references to Kevin Hart’s Heartbeat Productions. A leather-clad Spark Industry steering wheel sits front and center from the driver’s seat. There’s also Recaro bucket seats, a suede headliner, and magnetic Detroit Speed logos on the door panels.

As for the power spec, this custom Pontiac GTO is motivated by a supercharged 6.2L V8 LT5 crate engine, the same engine found under the hood of the C7-generation Corvette ZR1. Output is rated at 755 horsepower, all of which is directed to the rear wheels through a Bowler Performance T-56 Magnum transmission and Detroit Speed Ford nine-inch rear end. The car also features custom headers, a stainless steel exhaust, and tucked engine bay that looks just as good as the rest of the build. Detroit Speed also equipped the GTO with their 595 front suspension module and JRI adjustable coilovers, along with a big brake kit from Baer.
