Cadillac’s Massive 55-Inch Display Panel Has This Cool Feature

It’s often the case that the ultimate appeal of a luxury vehicle is the culmination of many small features, all of which come together to form something greater than their sum. And while the feature we’re shining a light on here is not necessarily something that every fan will notice, it’s still an interesting detail worth pointing out. The feature in question – a small illuminated Cadillac badge on the back of the luxury marque’s expansive 55-inch display.

The interior of the Cadillac Sollei concept.

This illuminated badge is present on multiple models, including the recently-announced Sollei concept, as well as the new 2025 Cadillac Escalade, the ultra-luxury Cadillac Celestiq sedan, and the all-electric Escalade IQ. We’d also bet that the upcoming Escalade IQL will also feature the same setup. Each of these models incorporates an expansive 55-inch display at the top of the dash, and each includes a small illuminated Cadillac crest that shines forward through the windshield, adding a very nice touch for a premium feel.

It’s positioned centrally along the “spine” of the vehicle, echoing other badges seen in the exterior, including the front end.

Though a small detail, it provides an unexpectedly dramatic effect at night when it lights up in darkened surroundings. During the day time, the logo subtly blends in with the back of the display, and looks like a standard Caddy crest.

Of course, Cadillac’s 55-inch screen is already pretty epic. Stretching from “pillar to pillar” across the dash, the screen performs three functions. First, it’s the digital instrument panel (aka the gauge cluster). Second, it serves as the center infotainment screen, and third – it’s a personal screen for the front-seat passenger. The 55-inch display is also complemented by a secondary screen below it called the Front Command Center (FCC), which handles common vehicle controls like HVAC settings and other comfort features.

While interesting, the illuminated Cadillac badge on the back of the luxury marque’s new 55-inch screen is actually a continuation of a similar feature seen on other Cadillac models, such as the 38-inch panel with OLED screens equipped by the 2021 through 2024 Escalade, as well as the 33-inch panel with an LED screen seen on models like the Lyriq.

  2. I think of 55 inch dash is too big. I think some people might be overwhelmed and distracted with all the buttons on the dash however, the little Cadillac emblem behind the screen is not necessary when you have a huge Cadillac emblem on the front grill they must think people Won’t realize you’re in Cadillac unless they see that little emblem. I guess while they’re at it, the engineers could develop Cadillac headlights that project. The Cadillac emblem going down the road. This is just becoming ridiculous

  3. What a terrible screen. I think the value of K2XX and GMT900 Escalades will slowly go up in the future…even with their issues.

  4. You forgot it’s on the Lyriq too!!

  5. They’ve totally forgotten the concept of “Understated Elegance”.

I seriously wish they’d stop loading up these vehicles with next to useless gobbledygook. The only feature I really like in my 2023 LYRIQ is the Super Cruise – which works pretty well IF you keep on roads that can use it. But it seems to work better than anything else, which is not perfect but at least its not like Tesla’s Autopilot which keeps driving into things, especially white Semi’s and killing the driver.

Several features with my car are best left optional. Like many of my previous cars, this one has ‘rainsense’ wipers…. I shut all that crap off since I’ve never had a car where it worked worth beans. I DO like the manually selectable mirror (unbelievably included with the car), but it is dim only – the standard rear camera view otherwise selected looks fine without my glasses, but with them (required for legally driving), I get some kind of stroboscopic effect that for me, makes it unusable. So for me, this is worse than just a normal mirror since I cannot get anything like a normal daytime view of what is in back of me.

The standard 19.2 kw charger for big home wallboxes is basically useless for most of us – I only use the 7.5 kw charge cord on a ‘220 receptacle’ and I suspect over 90% of other LYRIQ buyers do the same thing, or else just plug in on ‘110’.

The ESCALADE IQ *WAS* going to have the 19.2 kw version standard, but now they are offering the 11 kw model standard currently on ALL GM EVs. As explained, few people even use this capability. Even Tesla has only a maximum 11kw facility, and the basic model 3 is limited to 7.5 kw which makes perfect sense. GM ditched the 7.5 kw unit that appeared in the 2017 BOLT ev, and if they are so concerned about having multiple parts to downsize they should have just used this for everything, with possibly the 19.2 kw unit optional for the very few who will use it.

The Big Screen is so problematic I really wish it was gone, amazing since GMs other touch screens work well.

But, I DO like the car’s driving range, and its driving manners…Its fast charging is on the slow side, but if it keeps the battery working for several hundred thousand miles, I’ll live with it.

  6. A very expensive Citreon, but lacking its panache of function vs form.
Citreonique ?? A better name? In my book it is, but I would rather have a restored classic Citreon myself .
