Volvo has officially unveiled the refreshed Volvo XC90 for the 2025.5 model year, showing off a variety of updates for its midsize three-row flagship crossover. Among the highlights are aesthetic updates inside and out, new suspension tuning, and a new infotainment display. When it goes on sale, the new XC90 will rival the Cadillac XT6 and Buick Enclave.
The refreshed XC90 offers several powertrain options, with the range-topping plug-in-hybrid T8 equipped with an electric motor producing 145 horsepower and 228 pound-feet of torque, plus a gasoline engine producing 310 horsepower and 295 pound-feet of torque. The electric motor is juiced by an 18.8 kWh battery pack, providing more than 70 kilometers (43 miles) of electric-only range (WLTP cycle), while the gasoline engine extends the range to more than 800 kilometers (497 miles). Models equipped with the T8 powertrain also drop the Recharge name in favor of simply “PHEV.”
Meanwhile, the base B5 is equipped with a turbocharged 2.0L four-cylinder rated at 247 horsepower and 266 pound-feet of torque, while the mid-range B6 doles out 295 horsepower and 310 pound-feet of torque, with both incorporating 48-volt mild-hybrid technology for greater efficiency (up to 15 percent improvement) and lower emissions.
In terms of styling, the refreshed XC90 takes inspiration from the all-electric EX90 and EX30, both outside and inside the cabin. The larger tablet-style infotainment screen features Google Built-in with Google Assistant, Google Maps, and other useful apps, plus there’s an optional Bowers & Wilkins audio system providing a high-quality sound experience. Seating capacity is set a maximum of seven.
With regard to safety, the refreshed XC90 incorporates advanced systems like lane-keeping assistance and collision avoidance with braking and steering interventions for vehicles, pedestrians, cyclists, and large animals. Adaptive suspension is standard while an air suspension system is optional, with the latter adjusting the vehicle’s height for better aerodynamics, easier access, or off-road capability.
The updated 2025 Volvo XC90 will hit production later in 2024, with deliveries ramping around the end of the year.

I prefer the Cadillac Vistiq over this Chinese import because the Vistiq is electric and costs less. And Volvo as a brand is in trouble.
