2025 GMC Yukon Gets Updated Engine Availability

The 2025 GMC Yukon debuts the mid-cycle refresh of the adventurously named SUV’s fifth generation with reworked front and rear fascias, an overhauled cockpit, new trailering and towing technology, and more. On top of that, Big Red is changing the model’s engine availability, which GM Authority is looking at here.

Overall, the engine lineup for the 2025 GMC Yukon consists of three powerplants. These include two gasoline engines, the naturally aspirated 5.3L V8 L84 gasoline engine developing 355 horsepower and 383 pound-feet of torque and the naturally aspirated 6.2L V8 L87 gasoline engine providing 420 horsepower and 460 pound-feet of torque.

Also offered is one diesel powerplant, the new-for-2025 3.0L I6 LZ0 turbodiesel Duramax engine, rated at 305 horsepower and 495 pound-feet of torque.

The 5.3L V8 L84 engine is standard fare on the entry-level Elevation and off-road-oriented AT4 trims, while the 6.2L V8 L87 is standard for the new AT4 Ultimate, and Denali Ultimate trims. The L87 gasoline engine is also optional on the AT4, but has no prerequisites for ordering.

Matters get more complex when it comes to optioning the 3.0L I6 LZ0 turbodiesel engine, however, which is available across all five trim levels. In most cases, specific configurations of packages and options must be chosen as prerequisites in order to make choosing the LZ0 turbodiesel possible. Check out this table for a summary:
