2025 Chevy Equinox Benefits From Global B Electronic Architecture

The 2025 Chevy Equinox introduces an all-new fourth generation for the crossover nameplate, and with it, a huge number of updates and changes. That includes new styling, a new cabin, and a new Activ trim level designed specifically for outdoor enthusiasts. The new ‘Nox is also equipped with a variety of new tech features, all of which are underpinned by the GM Global B electronic architecture.

For those readers who may be unaware, the GM Global B electronic architecture, also known as Vehicle Intelligence Platform (VIP), acts as a sort of digital “nervous system” for the vehicle, connecting various vehicle components and enabling General Motors to offer customers its latest technology features. Compared to previous digital architectures, Global B enables greater processing power, over-the-air software updates, more-rapid communication between various vehicle systems, and enhanced cybersecurity. It also allows customers to “unlock” certain features after vehicle purchase.

At present, a huge number of GM models are equipped with Global B – to be specific, 42 models for the 2025 model year, comprising 81 percent of GM’s lineup. That number has risen considerably in the last few years, with only 24 percent of the lineup equipped with Global B for the 2021 model year.

As for the 2025 Chevy Equinox, some of the standout digital features include an 11.2-inch diagonal infotainment system mounted horizontally on the dash, paired with an 11-inch diagonal driver information center behind the steering wheel. The all-new crossover also features Chevy Safety Assist, which includes Automatic Emergency Braking, Forward Collision Alert, and Lane Keep Assist, among other safety-enhancing systems.

With regard to mechanicals, the 2025 Chevy Equinox cradles the turbocharged 1.5L I4 LSD gasoline engine, while the GM D2 platform provides the vehicle’s non-digital underpinnings. Production takes place at the GM San Luis Potosi plant in Mexico.
