Previously introduced to the United States as the Geo Metro, the second-generation Chevy Metro carried on the Geo’s original ethos by offering consumers a low-cost, fuel-efficient, no-frills driving experience. As such, it can be hard to find road-worthy examples in excellent condition, and yet, this 2000 Chevy Metro certainly fits the bill and it’s currently up for grabs online.
Listed for auction on Bring A Trailer, this little Metro appears to be quite well-kept, boasting roughly 44,000 miles on the odometer. Driven by its original owner until it was acquired by the selling dealer a few months ago, this particular unit features a clean Carfax report, clean Pennsylvania title, and is offered at no reserve.
Starting with the exterior, this 2000 Chevy Metro is configured as a three-door hatchback and is finished in the Bright Blue Metallic paint color. Additional details include black front and rear bumpers, black side moldings, chrome-finished door edge protectors, an A-pillar-mounted retractable antenna, and a rear window defroster.
As for rollers, 13-inch steelies wear full wheel covers and are mounted on 155/80R13 Ironman iMove PT rubber. Braking is handled by front discs and rear drums.
Moving to the interior, the front buckets and rear bench seat are upholstered in a two-tone gray cloth colorway, and are matched with gray door panels and floor carpets. Some creature comforts include functioning air conditioning, an AM / FM stereo system, and manual-crank windows.
Under the hood lies a naturally aspirated 1.0L I3 gasoline engine, which was rated at 55 horsepower and 58 pound-feet of torque when fresh off the assembly line. This output is directed to the front wheels via a five-speed manual transmission. Interestingly, the seller notes that an oil change was performed in preparation for the auction.
So, what’re your thoughts, dear reader? Is this well-kept 2000 Chevy Metro a vehicle you believe could fetch a pretty penny in auction? Or is it better off selling on Facebook Marketplace for pennies on the dollar? Remember to vote in the poll below, and fire off your thoughts in the comment section.

Makes me nostalgic for my ’95 Geo Metro which I kept for eleven years and over 100,000 miles. Once got 48 mpg when a strong wind was at my back. Second best car I’ve ever owned.
I’d take it. Simple, excellent fuel economy, and stickshift. What’s not to like? An excellent commuter car here. I remember back in December 2021 there was one for sale with only 400 miles on it.
Interesting in its’ day but a potential deathtrap on today’s roads overwhelmingly populated by SUVs, CUVs, and large to huge pickup trucks. The wheel covers shown are not original; they’ve been replaced by generic, ugly, plastic $9.99 hubcaps found at any Walmart or similar purveyor of high quality auto parts. LOL

It’s hard to find tires for these at this point. There’s very few cars still on the road that have 13” wheels. Most of the cars that did were very cheaply built and no longer run
