Watch A Police Chevy Tahoe Illegally Pass A Dump Truck In Oklahoma: Video

A new viral video shows a police officer in a patrol-spec Chevy Tahoe PPV passing a dump truck in a risky maneuver that luckily did not result in a crash.
The video was apparently captured by a dash cam mounted on a vehicle behind the police vehicle, showing exactly what happened. According to the video description, this incident occurred in Oklahoma, with the officer that pulled the maneuver a member of the Oklahoma Highway Patrol.
The video is brief, clocking in at just a few seconds long. The video opens to show a two-lane road out in the country, with large grassy fields on either side of the tarmac. The road is straight, but climbs over a hill just ahead of the driver.
As the video gets under way, we see the police-spec Chevy Tahoe patrol vehicle pull out from behind the dump truck as the Tahoe and dump truck begin to climb the hill. The solid yellow line indicates a no-passing zone, but it appears as though the driver in the Tahoe doesn’t really care. The Tahoe driver successfully completes the pass at the top of the hill.
Luckily there wasn’t another motorist on the other side of the hill traveling in the opposite direction, which would have likely resulted in a very different ending, possibly a head-on collision. Indeed, there was no way that the Chevy Tahoe driver would have seen another driver coming when they began the pass at the bottom of the hill.
“He attempted this twice,” the video description reads. “First time a car was coming so he had to hurry and get back over.”

Perhaps he was on his way to a call.
Oh I didn’t know that, wokester.
No big deal. He started the pass while he was still in the passing markers on the road, and passed the truck. End of story. Just another over reacting NPC driver.
He’s not going anywhere important. He has equipment to move people off the road called lights and siren. Just a “I can do it because I can move”
The Officer should be given time off without pay and a ticket.
I just wouldn’t want to be the person coming over the hill in the opposite direction. Thank God it wasn’t the case.
Generally you wouldn’t pass another vehicle under these conditions (a double yellow line) however in this instance, the loacal law enforcement saw a need to pass a slower moving vehicle and in truth we don’t know why they did this move but it looked safe to pass (no other cars coming from the opposite direction) so I’d have to say “Fo Get ’bout it” and keep moving, ain’t nutt’in to see here folks cause sometimes you make decisions you feel are okay to make at the time, it’s your call. ‘Nuff said.
Incredibly stupid move that could have easily caused life threatening mayhem. He had no idea what was coming on the other side of the hill. Could have been nobody, as it turned out, or it could have been a family in a minivan on vacation. If the department involved knows of this incident and the officer involved, he should, at a minimum, be extensively retrained and face sanctions.
Not much less dangerous than pulling your service weapon, closing your eyes and firing a shot down the street just to see what happens.
Wrong move Trooper!, and he or she knows it. If you are going to pass on a two lane you are “REQUIRED to “COMPLETE your PASS within the passing ZONE”. If you are late getting back in, a ticket CAN be issued. This trooper clearly made a bad move, He or she was late OUT. Plus if the unit was on a call I see NO red & blue light’s flashing on the rack. Citation for sure.
I just witnessed a Chevy Spark hit a curb at my local Target. Too bad I didn’t have my camera ready as I’m sure Jonathan could have written an article about that
No problem, plenty of room. Any skilled driver could have done the same..
Typical cop! The rules are for the peons!
NO, he is suppose to enforce the law but breaks it himself. This is a dangerous cop who thinks he is above the law and that, my friend, is the WRONG attitude.
I agree very much, this cop would be the one to lecture and ticket you about safe driving if he were to catch you do this.
ah yes middle of nowhere oklahoma.. can do as they please.
now you try it, he will be right behind you lecturing you on safety and how you cant do as you please just because you are in the middle of nowhere oklahoma! i grew up with this mentality all around me..
If he was answering a call he’s lights would have been on but that’s still not a reason to pass illegally.
No justification for passing as this cop did. Needs to “read rules of the road”
Cops get away with this stuff every day. In Colorado, it’s supposed to be illegal to remain in the left lane, unless you are “actively” passing another vehicle. I watched a state patrol car stay in the left lane going 5 mph under the speed limit for nearly 6 miles one day on the Interstate, so I called the state patrol dispatch office to report that license plate of the vehicle performing an illegal act. The answer I was given was “That’s a state patrol vehicle, we are not going to pull over one of our own officers.”
Granted, in this video, The officer started his pass in a legal passing zone, but could easily see the no passing zone coming up in a very short distance and should not have made that pass.
Come on people, every single one of us has done this same exact thing at least a few times.
There have been times when I’ve caught the beginning of the no passing stripe when going around someone, but not what this clown did. I value my life more than that. I also am apparently misguided enough to have some compassion and thoughtfulness for my fellow drivers and their passengers.
IMHO, if you do this kind of stuff on any kind of regular basis, you shouldn’t be licensed to drive on public roads.
Ya my time in Oklahoma they have little speed traps all through the state 70 -65-55-45-35 all in a few hundred feet
Then give you a ticket that cost $300.00
Then this guy dangerously passing on double yellow line
Should be disciplined or ticketed. For sure
