Schwartz Performance, a speed shop in Harvard, Illinois, recently posted a series of images showcasing one of their latest builds. This time around, it’s a 1986 Chevy Monte Carlo sporting a Hellcat engine swap, plus a long list of complementary equipment to balance it out, such as upgraded suspension, a modern interior, and more. Meet the Monte Carlo SSRT.
Let’s start with the engine. The star of the show is a Mopar Performance supercharged 6.2L V8 Hellcat motor, which sits in the Monte’s engine bay with black and silver components that appear to shine when you lift the hood. While fans of the Bow Tie brand will undoubtedly call this swap blasphemy, there’s no arguing when it comes to the specs, with a claimed output of 829 horsepower and 775 pound-feet of torque at the rear wheels. Further power upgrades include twin 525 mph fuel pumps and a custom stainless fuel tank, plus a 2018 Dodge Charger engine harness and Mopar ECU to make it all work.
Sending all that power rearwards is a Mopar Performance ZF 8HP90 automatic transmission, essentially the factory Hellcat unit, as well as a custom steel driveshaft and a heavy-duty nine-inch third member, 35 spline axles, a Truetrac differential, and 3.70 gears.
The chassis and suspension were upgraded as well, with Schwartz Performance throwing in their bolt-in G-Machine Chassis, Ridetech coilovers, new front and rear sway bars, a power steering rack, and 14-inch Baer brakes clamped by six-piston calipers.

The exterior shows off some polished Bonspeed wheels wrapped in Pirelli rubber, while the interior was fully upgraded as well, showing off a set of new gauges, quilted upholstery, a new infotainment system, and three large subs in the trunk.

No thanks, who wants a Chevy with a Mopar engine?
Yeah, wasted a nice Monte.
I guess they want to wrench on it all the time.
What a waste and it looks atrocious.
Kind of a white elephant.
alloy wheels are a no for me … but cool car !
It’s called hot rodding
Love the looks, stance, interior layout, but why in the world would you put the hellcat engine in it when a crate ZR1 motor with 755 hp from factory without tune could have been done to it and make it a TRUE full blown Chevy Monte Carlo. Who wants a Frankenstein monster with that engine. Not this Chevy guy!
