While the 2024 Chevy Silverado EV features wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto as standard for the 3WT and 4WT trim levels, GM Authority has learned which variants of the 2025 Chevy Silverado EV will include this technology.
Notably, several trim levels of the 2025 Chevy Silverado EV will not get wireless Apple CarPlay and/or Android Auto, but will use an entirely different system.
The 2WT, 5WT and 8WT variants are those which will include standard wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto out of the 2025 Chevy Silverado EV lineup. The WT variants feature the 11.3-inch infotainment system with Google built-in (RPO code URL) and a six-speaker system (RPO code UQF) in conjunction with this tech. As a reminder, the WT series Silverado EV trucks are available exclusively to fleet and commercial customers.
Meanwhile, the LT and RST variants of the 2025 Chevy Silverado, in addition to the 2024 Chevy Silverado EV RST First Edition, get the 17.7-inch infotainment system with Google built-in (RPO code URF). These systems are paired with a Bose premium seven-speaker system (RPO code UQA).
GM announced it was moving away from Apple CarPlay and Android Auto in favor of a new Google-based infotainment system in March 2023. While this was rumored to be related to safety or to make it easier to utilize EVs as a platform for digital subscription services, GM Authority exclusively learned the actual reason in December 2023.
Apple CarPlay and Android Auto are being axed from GM EVs like the Chevy Silverado EV – despite the preferences of about a third of drivers – because battery conditioning and optimization works better with the Google technology. Additionally, integration of the Super Cruise semi-autonomous driver assist system is smoother, more effective and more accurate with Google.
The consumer-focused 2025 Chevy Silverado EV’s entry-level LT trim gets an assortment of tech and both interior and exterior features, along with an optional, trim-specific package, the LT Premium Package (RPO code XTF). GM Authority also brought you the first images of the LT trim. The pickup will also get five new paint colors for the 2025 model year.
Meanwhile, the WT variants will feature three battery sizes, the Standard Range (2WT), Extended Range (5WT), and Max Range (8WT). Pricing will range from a starting MSRP of $58,995 for a 2WT with a 14-module battery up to $79,900 for a 4WT equipped with a 24-module battery.
Production of the 2025 Silverado EV is currently scheduled to begin on September 3rd, 2024. The truck will continue to be underpinned by the GM BT1 platform, with Ultium battery packs and Ultium Drive motors for motivation. Production will take place at the GM Factory Zero plant in Hamtramck, Michigan.

Sorry, but I don’t buy this BS of Apple CarPlay and Android Auto interfering with battery conditioning and optimization programs when these two programs run completely independent of the OEM system. If you are going to BS your customers on why you are axing this feature, try a better harder to debunk excuse.
Give me Bluetooth or USB for music/hand free calling and I’ll get a phone holder with vent clip for navigation. Apple CaryPlay isn’t very good anyway. I usually end up just using the phone because CarPlay is slow/intermittent and doesn’t give me access to all the things I use.
I use Android Auto on my 22 Sierra 1500 limited SLT as I have Android phone (Samsong) and I love it. I TRADED up just for this feature. It mirrors my smart phone apps and I’m able to HANDS FREE all features by voice commands thru GOOGLE. NO FIDDLING THRU BUTTONS OR Switches. I guess to each their own but to me I’m very happy with this feature.
Please stop saying that the WT trim level is ONLY for Fleet/ Commercial customers.
I have had a Silverado EV 4WT for several months now and am neither of those. I paid $61,000USD from a dealer who had several available on the lot for immediate delivery. There were several more available at other dealerships around my area too.
My Chevy Silverado EV broken 2 months ago. It was only 1700 miles on it. I paid $82k just wasted my money. It is still in the Chevy dealer they cannot make a decision to repurchase or fix.

I have the Google based system in my 2023 Sierra Denali and it is a nightmare. I get in and ask for directions and Google tells me, “Warming up” What, does it have cathode ray tubes?!? What’s even worse is when I ask it to do something and it says I don’t have a stable signal even though my cell phone which operates off the same towers as does OnStar has four out of five bars. Overall the system is slow and cumbersome and not having Apple CarPlay may very well be a dealbreaker when I purchased my next vehicle
Go back to your dealer and have them reprogram your system through a hard connection to the GM computers. When I bought my ’23 Sierra Elevation last year, the infotainment system was a hot mess. The sound would stop working randomly while driving and the only way to get it back was to shut the truck off and wait for 10-20 minutes before restarting. It didn’t matter if I was using CarPlay or not. My Google Maps would stop working and not reset itself (even days later) if I went to a large city like Detroit. I could be hundreds of miles away and it was still trying to pinpoint itself in that city. Finally, my dealer was able to reprogram my system and reinstall the updates from the GM computer. It has been working flawlessly for almost 11 months now. Even with that said, if GM stops offering CarPlay, I will stop buying GM cars.
This GM way to trying gouge the customer only offering on some trims .
GM just dropped a deuce on over 1,000 salaried software and service employees worldwide. Real fresh news.
