Some GMC Hummer EV, Sierra EV Units Have An Erroneous First Responder Label

General Motors has released a Service Update for select units of the GMC Hummer EV and GMC Sierra EV due to an issue with an erroneous label.
According to Service Update N242451390, certain 2022 and 2025 model-year vehicles may have a condition where the 12-volt battery negative cable was erroneously labeled with a First Responder Emergency Cut Loop label. To rectify this problem, certified GM technicians will be instructed to inspect affected vehicles and remove the First Responder Emergency Cut Loop label from the 12-volt battery negative cable. This fix should take techs roughly 15 minutes to perform.
It’s worth noting that it’s currently unclear how many units are affected by this incorrect labeling.
As a reminder, the GMC Hummer EV is offered in two distinct flavors, the Hummer EV Pickup and the Hummer EV SUV. Powered by GM Ultium batteries and GM Ultium Drive motor technologies, the former is capable of developing up to 1,000 horsepower and roughly 1,200 pound-feet of torque, while the latter can produce up to 830 horsepower.
Under the skin lies the wide-body version of the GM BT1 platform, while production of the 2025 model year kicked off at the GM Factory Zero plant (née GM Detroit-Hamtramck plant) in Michigan in June 2024.
In regard to the GMC Sierra EV, the all-electric pickup truck boasts much of the same goodies as the two Hummer EV models. Propulsion is also provided by GM Ultium Drive motor and GM Ultium battery technologies, while maximum output is rated at 754 horsepower and 758 pound-feet of torque. Notably, the Sierra EV Denali Edition 1 delivers an estimated range of 440 miles on a single charge.
The narrow-body variant of the same BT1 architecture provides the underpinnings, while production of the upcoming model year is currently scheduled to commence on September 3rd, 2024 at the same Factory Zero facility.
