The mid-cycle refresh for the 2025 GMC Yukon is here, introducing two new trim levels and a slew of refinements, including to the full-size SUV’s towing capacity. The 8,400-pound max tow capacity is unchanged from 2024 Yukon’s tow ratings, so long as the vehicle is equipped with the Max Trailering Package (NHT). However, the 2025 Yukon brings some new features to make pulling more convenient, including:
- Blind Zone Steering Assist: alerts drivers and provides a brief, firm turn of the steering wheel when a potential crash is detected with a moving vehicle in a side blind zone that is extended to trailer lengths.
- Transparent Trailer View: uses a tailgate-mounted camera and a customer-installed auxiliary camera available on the rear of a compatible trailer to help virtually see through the trailer to view objects or vehicles behind it.
- Trailer Reverse Trajectory: adds rearward guidelines to track the path of the trailer when backing up.
- Trailer Tire Health: enhances the Trailer Tire Pressure Monitoring System by adding leak detection, tire life monitor, and an over-speed warning.
- Jackknife Alert: tracks the position of the compatible trailer in relation to the vehicle to notify the driver if facing a potential jackknife situation.
These five new features join the comprehensive list of trailering features available in the 2025 Yukon, including:
- ProGrade Trailering System (ZL6), which includes Hitch View (PZ8), Trailer Brake Controller (JL1), and Smart Trailer Integration Indicator (UET)
- Enhanced Trailering Technology Package (ZM1), which includes Trailer Camera Provisions (TRG), Trailering Assist Guidelines (THS), Auxiliary Trailer Camera (LPO, TRO)
- Max Trailering Package (NHT), which ProGrade includes Trailering System (ZL6), extra capacity cooling system (V03), 2-speed active transfer case on 4WD models (NHQ)
The 2025 Yukon also gets the Z82 trailering equipment as standard, which includes a trailering hitch platform, a 7-wire harness with independent fused trailering circuits mated to a 7-way connector, a 2-inch trailering receiver, and trailer sway control.
The 2025 GMC Yukon continues to offer three powertrain options. The base engine is the naturally aspirated 5.3L V8 L84 gasoline engine, delivering 355 horsepower and 383 pound-feet of torque. For those seeking more power, the 6.2L V8 L87 produces 420 horsepower and 460 pound-feet of torque. The torquiest of the bunch is the 3.0L I6 LZ0 turbodiesel Duramax, which replaces the LM2 offered previously. This doles out 305 horsepower and 495 pound-feet of torque and is available on AT4 and the new AT4 Ultimate trims for the first time.
Like its platform mates from Chevy and Caddy, the 2025 GMC Yukon is built on the GM T1 platform. Production will continue at the GM Arlington plant in Texas, with availability anticipated by the end of the year. Further details, including pricing, are expected closer to production.

What about going back to basic and have proper towing mirror and a larger fuel tank?
When will they offer a black interior instead of that horrible brown on the ultimate?
Omg the ultimate interior is ugly
