A couple of months after the launch of the refreshed Captiva with the XL surname in Peru – for the first time in South America – General Motors has just launched the refreshed 2025 Chevy Captiva XL in Ecuador.
The company officially launched the refreshed 2025 Chevy Captiva XL in Ecuador’s domestic market as part of Chevrolet’s portfolio renewal and commercial strategy in that country, where GM will transition from being a local manufacturer to an importer of its entire model lineup. The 2025 Captiva XL introduces a mild update to the three-row compact crossover’s current lineup, with minor design changes and enhanced features.
“With the SUV market representing 49 percent of light vehicle sales in 2023, we see an excellent opportunity to strengthen our commitment to customers in Ecuador and expand our participation in this growing segment,” said Brand Manager of Chevrolet Ecuador, Fernando Muñoz. “Captiva is a model that has positioned itself as a customer preference, and now it has been renewed with more equipment and important developments for the Ecuadorian market,” he added.
In total, the refreshed 2025 Chevy Captiva XL is launched in Ecuador with a lineup made up of four variants spread across LTZ and Premier trim levels. Both trims are practically the same regarding their design and powertrains, but feature distinctive cabin configurations. This includes a two-row layout with five standard seats in the LTZ and a three-row layout for a capacity of seven passengers in the Premier, which also boasts enhanced comfort features.
Mechanically, the 2025 Chevy Captiva XL maintains the same powertrain offered by the second-generation model since its regional introduction in 2019, consisting of a turbocharged 1.5L I4 engine with 149 horsepower and 188 pound-feet of torque. The two available trim levels of the 2025 Captiva in Ecuador are offered with a six-speed manual transmission or a continuously variable automatic, both matched to a front-wheel drivetrain.
The refreshed 2025 Chevy Captiva XL is now available for sale at the official Chevrolet dealer network in Ecuador, which represents one of the largest sales volume markets for the model in South America. All four Captiva XL variants offered in the Ecuadorian market come standard with a list of technology and safety equipment that stands out in its segment. Here is pricing for the 2025 Captiva XL in Ecuador:
- 2025 Captiva XL LTZ MT: $27,599 USD, the official currency of the South American country

Is this Captiva also made in South Korea as the first one? I have seen many of the first models where I live. It was smaller than the Equinox.
