Pink Cadillac V-Series.R Celebrates Pink Cadillac Day At COTA: Photos

Ever since Elvis Presley painted his Fleetwood Series 60 pink in the ’50s, the pink Cadillac has held a special place in pop culture. This iconic color combo has now found its way into the world of motorsports as Caddy celebrates September 1st as Pink Cadillac Day. To mark the occasion, the luxury marque has unveiled a striking pink livery for its V-Series.R racing machine.

Cadillac V-Series.R painted in a new pink livery.

The new livery is certainly quite eye-catching. Highlights include a vivid fuchsia base that fades into darker shades as it progresses towards the rear of the vehicle, culminating in a sleek black around the tail of the race car. Horizontal color strips along the sides enhance the sense of speed, while also echoing Cadillac’s modern design language, as seen in its latest electric vehicles around the grille and side panels.

The new pink livery will be on display in real life at the FIA WEC Lone Star Le Mans race in Austin, Texas, between today, August 30th, and Sunday, September 1st.

Fans of the Cadillac brand and motorsports alike will also get a chance to bring this unique livery into their own virtual garages. Thanks to a partnership with the Forza Motorsport video game franchise, the pink livery is now available as a downloadable feature. As such, players can apply the new look to their own digital V-Series.R, adding a splash of pink to their gaming experience.

As the story goes, the pink Cadillac phenomenon began after Elvis painted his ’55 Fleetwood a shade known as “Elvis Rose.” Elvis acquired the ’55 after his pink ’54 Fleetwood Seres 60 was destroyed in a fire. Elvis also mentions a pink Caddy in his song “Baby, Let’s Play House.” Since then, the pink Cadillac phenomenon has been referenced in music, movies, and even the Mary Kay program, among other places.
