No. 7 Xfinity NASCAR Chevy Outruns Crash To Win Michigan: Video

The Xfinity Series race at Michigan on August 17th, 2024 ended under caution after a dramatic last-lap crash in an Overtime finish, and the checkers flew over Justin Allgaier’s No. 7 NASCAR Chevy Camaro SS solidly in the lead when it was all said and done.

Allgaier pitted for fuel seven laps later than the six cars in front of him, but his No. 7 NASCAR Chevy was an absolute beast, and it didn’t take him long to pick every single one of them off and reclaim the lead as the laps ticked down. The race was briefly red-flagged as rain spotted the track, and on the ensuing restart, Allgaier reassumed the race lead. He took the white flag out front, outrunning a dramatic last-lap crash that saw several cars spinning on the backstretch, and one – the No. 28 Ford Mustang Dark Horse of Kyle Sieg – flipped as he got sideways.

Allgaier was safely ahead of the chaos, though, and cruised to the checkers under caution to claim the 25th victory of his career.

“Just cannot say thank you enough to this team and all these guys standing right here,” Allgaier said. “It’s been an incredible week. We did not show up at [the last race in] Indianapolis like we wanted to and these guys have worked tirelessly through this [two-week break for the Olympics]. It’s truly special, winning at Michigan.”

Sheldon Creed’s No. 18 Toyota TRD Supra brought home a second-place finish, followed by the No. 20 Supra of John Hunter Nemechek in third. The No. 5 NASCAR Chevy of Anthony Alfredo finished fourth, while the No. 8 Camaro of Sammy Smith rounded out the top five.
